He glances up and instantly he's frowning. It is a suspicious frown, because he is not really sure what you could possibly want to talk about --

"All right, what am I signing off?"

Jane had prepared for this, John being on the defensive from the outset. He steps fully inside the door, expression neutral.

"This isn't a favor. I'm saving your John Hancock for something much more useful down the line," he said cryptically, before putting one of his hands in his jacket pockets. "Just a chat."

... Okay, somehow that only makes him more suspicious. "Right. A chat. You know, if it's about the homegroup thing it wasn't my idea."

"It's actually not, but while we're on that subject, I won't be roped into menial tasks. Just a heads-up."
