Just like when he and his brother were younger, Alphonse was finding his studies far to easy to keep his attention for long. He had preemptively finished weeks if homework questions already in the classes he could predict for, so he had enough free time to research the things he wanted to.
He'd hoped to find some books about alchemy, though any book of worth would cost multiple hundreds of dollars so there were any he doubted they'd be available to the student body to be manhandled. So instead he had to make do with what was available, which happened to be up on a high shelf, and even on his tippytoes up on the proved stool, the diminutive boy could only reach with his fingertips.
When the book finally started to slip free of the shelf, so did his footing on the stool, sending him topping backwards with a hard thump and groan.

Tina had realised quite early on that she hated the library. It was full of people being industrious and telling her to be quiet. Not only that, but she had taken an instant dislike to the librarian who had traumatised her in the first week when he had used a loudhailer to tell her at a point-blank range 'don't touch the books, they're not for reading
( ... )
Minato had heard the beginning of someone falling, but he'd been so absorbed in his music that he hadn't noticed just how close the source was until it was too late. He came tumbling down right along with Tina and Alphonse, his headphones being knocked off his head in the process, a few books he'd been carrying digging painfully into his ribs. The boy lay there, dazed, for a few moments before sitting up. "... Ow."
He looked around, dusting himself off as he got up and gathered the books to him, extending a hand to help Tina up if she wished. "Are you alright?" he asked them both, a wryly amused smile spreading over his face.
"Oh! I'm-" Al covered his mouth with his hand before blurting out in a fashion unbecoming of a library. "I'm so sorry!" He tried again, this time in a softer voice. He usually wasn't this clumsy, at least not when he was outside of his armor. The boy has been all sorts of distracted recently, and he's getting careless.
"Are you guys alright? I didn't mean- I'm sorry!" Alphonse flailed for a moment, then stood up to offer his hands to the others.
