1.50PM: POST-SPEECHIN' righteousapollo February 18 2010, 23:13:18 UTC
[ooc: what a cop-out, Shaz isn’t even writing the damn speech. For the record: it was like the video post - but better. Yeah. Something like that.]

The crowd, electric with passion and alive with the waving sway of placards and banners, had roared its support as Enjolras’ closing words rang out across the protest space. With one final wave of solidarity Enjolras turned away from the podium and descended from the stage, shooting his friends to a confident if tight-lipped smile.

He couldn’t shake a faint twinge of regret as he leaped down the stage steps two at a time: he would have loved to have spoken for longer. The crowd had reacted with sympathy and passion, proving itself to be amazingly receptive to everything he had said, but there were other speakers to get through before the afternoon was out. Dry-mouthed and still light-headed with post-proselytizing eurphoria Enjolras rejoined his friends at the foot of the stage and gave them an expectant look.

"That went well, don’t you think?"

Courfeyrac rushed at Enjolras at once and flung his arms around his shoulders. "Well? Ha, you are an absolute master of understatement! Enjolras, that was magnificent!" He pulled back only to beam at him and better aim his bisous. Even then it was sort of sloppily aimed, but Courfeyrac felt that that could be forgiven in the name of political enthusiasm.

"You have given some brilliant speeches in your time, but this one tops them all. I'll have it online within... I don't know. Within whatever length of time it takes Combeferre to upload it from my camera onto his laptop."

Enjolras obligingly held still to have his cheek kissed. Bolstered by Courfeyrac’s enthusiasm he cast a longing look back over his shoulder towards the stage. "Too short, perhaps," he mused aloud before briefly shaking his head and turning back to Courfeyrac and giving him a one-armed, clasping quasi-hug. "But thank you, mon ami. It means a lot, it really does." He licked his lips, feeling insufferably parched from the prolonged speech. "Do we have any water about?"

"Pft, too short," said Courfeyrac, leaning his head against Enjolras's. "Only you would call a fifteen minute speech 'too short'." He slid an arm around Enjolras's waist and squeezed.

"You see that? You're thirsty. Clearly you have been speaking just long enough. I think there's some... ah, there we are." Bahorel conveniently walked by with a box full of bottled water to distribute to the speakers. Courfeyrac nabbed a bottle and handed it to Enjolras. "There you are. We can fight anti-mutant legislation and dehydration at the same time."

UHHH sometime post-rally. beware, slightly tl;dr action tag ahead. willharangueyou February 19 2010, 14:03:13 UTC
[ooc: I would have tagged Enjy's comment, but he and Curryface were too busy making out and rolling around on the sidewalk so I thought I'd leave them to it 8|]

[ Pepper lingers close to the edge of the rally, watching on with a genuinely bright and enthusiastic expression. Enjolras' speech was fantastic, and she is thoroughly glad that she had to decided to come, if only at first in the interest of helping Enjolras and Courfeyrac at keeping an eye on the numerous students who wanted to attend. She knows that for all intents and purpose she should not get particularly roused by the protest, because she is here to be a responsible adult, but it's really pretty hard not to get lost in the energy of it all. She understands concerns that other teachers had about this protest - she knows that their concerns are deep-rooted and that overall this affects them more than it does her. After all, Pepper herself is not a mutant - but Tony is, at least, and if it affects Tony it'll end up affecting Pepper too. ]

[Is on Billy's shoulder, cat-sized for the moment, but not at all hiding. Stretches her neck out and stands on her hind feet, placing her forepaws on the side of Billy's head for balance as she looks around.]

Oh, Billy! Look, there is Pepper! Pray let us go talk to her!

[Flaps her wings a few times and hovers slightly above Billy's head, trying to get Pepper's attention.]

[is sort of walking along next to Billy and Isky in a big group of their friends]

Heh. Might wanna say something.

[cups his hands around his mouth]

Hey, Pepper!

Uh. Ms. Potts.

[SURPRISE SURPRISE IS THERE TOO probably like hanging back a little at the same time as bein just that wee bit too close to to Billy to be anywhere near as subtle as they think they are]

[doesn't say anything, but laughs a little at the others' efforts to get Pepper's attention]

[Angela really did enjoy the speech Enjolras had given. He really knew how to give them. So far, so good. No giant monsters like the last time the school was in the city. Peering around, Angela looked around for someone she knew.]

Levi had made her own sign, but she hadn't gone for anything fancy: just a basic 'MUTANT RIGHTS NOW' scrawled in marker across cardboard. She could have come up with something wittier, but had decided against it. Amusing signs were more likely to draw media attention, and despite Monseiur Courfeyrac's reassurances, she didn't want to tempt fate.

(Even the creation of this simple sign had accidentally resulted in a huge mess on her desk, though. Ask Me About My Mutant Powers)

She stood around the edges of the rally, not feeling comfortable in the middle of the crowd. It was a bit claustrophobic.

Courfeyrac had somehow lost most of his mentor group in the crowd, which was one of the hazards of helping to organize big rallies. He spotted Levi's hand-made sign quickly enough however, and made his way towards her.

"Levi!" He waved at her and managed to pass through the last few clumps of protesters separating them. "Doing alright?"

"Yes, Mister Courfeyrac!" she called, waving to him as he approached. "It's a bit crazy here, isn't it?"

She'd never been to a political rally before, much less one as well-attended as this one. She found it extremely impressive.

Courfeyrac laughed. "That it is! Ah, it is wonderful, is it not? Well, once you get used to it." He beamed and looked around. "It's wonderful to see how many people turned up. How are you handling it?"
