The rally was well-attended, though not quite as large as the last one Enjolras had spoken at. A large number of people were there, many of them in groups, chatting to one another. There were a variety of them; all ages and sizes and colors, and even a few people who showed physical signs of having an X-gene and were not going out of their way to hide it like they might otherwise do.
Many people held signs or wore t-shirts with pro-mutant or anti-registration slogans on them, and different chants would occasionally break out from one of the groups and travel across therally before settling down again. A few clumps of passersby sometimes stopped to see what was going on, and on rare occasions some would join in the protests. A couple of police officers were stationed at certain points around the edges of the rally, to make sure fights didn't break out. They were silent and mostly slouched next to each other, carefully watching, or sometimes chatted a bit to one another.
All in all, the atmosphere wasn't tense, though, and the vast majority of people not participating in the protest did not seem to begrudge the gatherers their gathering. Some people had even brought their dogs, which sniffed enthusiastically at everyone, human and mutant alike.
