Spock was in the front of the school that morning as his class had let out early and he had some time to people watch. That's what he had been doing lately since most humans were confusing him an immensely. He figured if he watched them in their habitats and read up what they had on the internet, then perhaps he would learn how to "fit in".

It was then he saw her. She looked confused and lost. "You're lost." He stated. It was just something he knew based on analyzing her facial expressions and other various body language. "Do you need help?"

Tenel Ka gave the young man a level look. "I have just arrived," she said, "and am not certain where to go next. Are you a student at this institution?"

There was something indefinably strange about his face, and as the last words left her mouth, she realized his ears were pointed like an animal's. Her eyebrows lifted slightly, although she was not inclined to stare.

"I attend here, yes." He answered flatly. "Where is your residence? Or are you looking to go else where?"

"I have not yet been assigned a residence," Tenel Ka explained. "My enrollment here was...sudden." To put it lightly. "Can you recommend a course of action?"

Edward was walking back from the cooling shed when Tenel Ka was arriving. He himself was hauling a decent sized cooler on his right shoulder, looking particularly pleased with himself. He wore ratty sweats and smelled of blood and musk. He'd just finished dealing with the rest of the deer carcasses and was off to package and freeze the rest of the meat.

As the girl was heading towards the entrance, so was Ed. Unfortunately, his hip decided to give an unexpected twist as it did when one leg was shorter than the other, and he lurched, cursing under his breath as he juggled the cooler to keep the contents from spilling.

The smell of animal blood caught Tenel Ka's nose, and she turned to see the boy carrying his cooler. It was a surprising sight, though not an unwelcome or an unfamiliar one. She wondered what he had found to cut up in this part of the world...

And then he slipped. Loaded down with baggage as she was, Tenel Ka still felt the need to help. She crossed to him quickly and reached up her arm to steady the cooler.

Edward wasn't expecting the newcomer to rush up and help him. It took him an extra minute to steady himself. At first, a rush of irritation bubbled forth. He could deal with this himself! He didn't need help like some cripple!

But then he forced that irritation down, trying to take his brother's advice. "Thanks! I got it!" He flashed a grin, looking charming without realizing it as he finally steadied himself. "It's not that heavy." There was only ten pounds of ice and ninety pounds of meat in the cooler.

Tenel Ka nodded, and released her grip. The boy seemed to have his load under control, and the cooler was heavy, but evidently not unmanageable. "Aha," she said, choosing not to comment on weight or lack thereof. She knew about pride.

"What have you butchered?" she asked instead, rather curiously. Apparently something large, in any case.
