Teddy's intention had been to walk down to the lakefront for some quiet following the busy first day of school, but that was before the basketball landed at his feet. He stooped to pick it up without thinking, and smiled when he looked up and saw Holly J heading over for it.

"Hey, this yours?" She must've thrown it from the basketball court - a pretty long way, actually, he realized, but he didn't remark on it, just threw the ball back to her as she approached.

She caught it with ease, "Yeah. Need to work on my half court shots. Lay-ups and dunks are easier." She tucked the ball under her arm a moment, wondering if the comment about dunking from a girl that's 5'1" sets in. She spun the ball on her finger for a moment before she headed back to the court.

About halfway there she stopped, "Want to try some one on one?" She smiled back at him and waited to see if he'd join her.

It did occur to him that she was pretty short to be talking about that sort of thing, but it also occurred to him that mutants, so he didn't really give it a second thought past that.

"Sure," he said, and he shrugged but it was still pretty obvious from his smile that he was keen to give it a go. "No powers, or ...?"

"That's... complicated," Holly J looked a little sheepish. It wasn't normal for her to not have the answers. To not know exactly who she was, how she fit, the whole of her reality neatly filed away in the specifics. "I don't exactly know what's me and what's my powers."

Ty Lee was on her way to the gym to practice there like a good student. She pouted a little as she walked, scuffing a foot along the ground. It really wasn't fair, threatening her with the principal's office just for exercising in a place that one of the teachers didn't approve of

Holly J was practicing dunking, which was a little easier than trying to aim half court and full court shots. She kept overshooting the basket. Her first few dunks were pretty well perfect. Catching the rim each time.

Her last one... she jumped a little higher, and landed on the top of the backboard. Never done that before. She stood up there a few moments before hopping down. Casually sinking the ball on her way back to the asphalt. That was when her eye was caught by a girl doing a pretty impressive gymnastics routine. "Hey, how long have you been doing that?" That sort of talent, perfect for cheerleading. Holly J causally caught the ball as it bounced up from sinking it, smiling to the other girl.
