See, now that you've said it, everyone's gonna be expecting dark and scary.

I'm totally ready for it, though. Got an idea and everything.

Then maybe I'll just go for something odd. Or list a hundred possibilities so that nobody will know which of them I'm settling on.

What are you going as? Or is it a surprise?

See, that's a much better plan. Nobody'll guess it from that!

Totally a surprise. No sense ruining it now.

Well, hopefully the teachers will let us all have a Halloween party so I can see your costume!

Jeez, you make your own clothes... don't you like the local stores or something? What kinda stuff do you make?

Uhh and the costume thing... yeah, I've never really done much dressing up, so I have no idea what I'd go as. Something cool. I'm not too good at ideas though. Maybe a ...tiger? Are tigers good to dress up as?

I buy some things. But when you make your own clothes, you can make sure everything fits exactly to your body. Mostly I make dresses. I did try making my own gym clothes before. I'll leave that to the athletic companies. It wasn't as successful as making dresses.

A tiger would be fun! You could do some really interesting things with face paint if you dressed as a tiger!

Oh, dresses, wow. I'm not much of a dress person myself see - I never really wear 'em - but the good ones always look all complicated and fussy so I bet they're hard to make. But yeah, that's... that's real talented of you!

Some people think it's silly to practice swordplay in one...but it's best to wear what you're comfortable in, right?

If you ever need help picking one for a formal occasion, let me know!

If we get to have a halloween party then I'm going to be the best fairy this place has ever seen, and that's a fact!

what costume

We don't really do Halloween in England very much, so what kind of stuff happens at a Halloween party? Is it like a normal party, but with dressing up?

More or less. You put on a costume, and sometimes there's Halloween themed things, like cupcakes with spooky designs on them. And there's lots of candy.

A Halloween party, huh? I'll talk to the Professor about it. If enough kids are interested (and I'm sure they will), we can set something up.

I've always just pulled off the whole sheet-ghost or buying a mask at the store. Do people usually make their own stuff?

Buying a costume is completely fine. I just like to make my own because I know how to sew and it's something really different from what I normally wear to work on.

Sounds like a lot of fun, that way. Coming up with your own thing, I mean. I dunno a lot of people back home who went to that much effort.

It's a good way to make sure the costume fits exactly how you want it to, too
