See, now that you've said it, everyone's gonna be expecting dark and scary.

I'm totally ready for it, though. Got an idea and everything.

Then maybe I'll just go for something odd. Or list a hundred possibilities so that nobody will know which of them I'm settling on.

What are you going as? Or is it a surprise?

See, that's a much better plan. Nobody'll guess it from that!

Totally a surprise. No sense ruining it now.

Well, hopefully the teachers will let us all have a Halloween party so I can see your costume!

You've seen Professor Brook, right? Somehow I don't think that'll be a problem.

I'm in his class. I have to admit, playing badly week is a little...ouch on the ears, but I'm sure he's got a good purpose behind it.

I think he's probably teaching us what not to do for the week so we'll be aware of all the common mistakes people make.

I guess that makes sense. But, like, half of us don't even know any better.

We can learn by trial and error...it's a chance to learn what sounds really bad, I suppose.

I already know what sounds bad without having to hear everybody doing it at once. But it's fun anyway, so I guess I can't complain.

Maybe he wants us to have something awful to compare our playing to so that when we're not making very quick progress we still know we could sound worse?

Like a self-esteem thing? Yeah, that works. He's got a bunch of reasons for this, I guess.
