OMFG!!! I just got done with a 2 hour bike ride that kicked my ass way worse about halfway out (1/4 of the way through the entire ride) than it did when I finished. I'm pretty exhausted, but feel pretty fuckin' stoked that I pushed myself (and SUCCEEDED!) so much ( Read more... )

I haven't felt nauseous yet, but every time I get home, I need about a half hour to catch my breath (although this is more due to the last 2 blocks up the very steep hill that I live on, than the rest of the ride). I really wish I could start my bike ride with that uphill climb that I always must end my rides with. I guess I could always bike up a block (toward the dead end at the top of the hill I live 2/3s the way up), and then coast down that much further to begin my ride. But that still leaves me riding (or walking) those last 2 blocks that are a killer.

*grin* Sounds like a great ride! Just don't overdo things too soon--you don't want to have to go a week without riding because you're too sore! Are you stretching beforehand?

TOO late! We Sag's are kinda over-achievers, ya know.?! I'm definitely sore today, but will be back on the bike by Thursday at the latest.

Are you stretching beforehand?

Apparently not as much as I should, although I was always told that stretching after a workout (when your muscles are warmed up) was more important.

HOLY FUCK! 3.5 hours? You got me soooo beat on this one. I was actually commenting to myself on how exhausted I am after 1 hour of walking vs. 2 hrs of biking (of course, it's hard to gauge this, given that all of my walks end immediately after the hill I live on is ascended).

Woohooo! You go brother man! Biking is becoming a huge favorite sport of mine. Great way to get rid of stress, plus I'm seeing a side of the city that is normally hidden from view while driving.

Indeed. I was pleasantly surprised to notice how many underpasses were on this trail. I don't think I had to cross a single street after I got on the Fern Ridge Trail.

I also noticed one of the local bike shops is conveniently located 5 feet off the Path. I'd seen it before from car, but never understood why they were "so far off the road" with poor signage. It's because the signage, front door, and everything are (very wisely) oriented to the Bike Path.

I think that not counting the exercise and sun I'm getting, I like the way biking literally shows me another point of view, which I'm always a big fan of.

Ya know, if'n you and sannion were to get bikes, we could explore some of the trails and Paths around town together.

Oh, I'm sorry, did I just drop something.?!

:-D

Sorry, neither of us are really bike people. We like walking. :)

But bikes let you go further and faster. Not to mention being a great alternative to taking the bus when traversing across town (e.g., to the cheapo movies).

But we should go on more walks, either way ;-)
