You're not leaving zookeeping forever, are you? D: Cause I mean, animation isn't exactly the least competitive field in the world either. *I* left that before I even got started XD

Definitely not ruling it out! I'm just picking up other skills that I really love and would enjoy a career in. :D The program I'm looking at seems to put a heavy focus on 3D animation, which I think would be the more useful JOB skill these days, although I'd love to get into 2D animation and learn a lot about that. :D

Well, there's always next year...

(It feels good to be saying that again. It's just not the Hawks if you can't make jokes about them losing ;))

Awesome christmas presents!

A full set of 120 Faber-Castell Polychromos colored pencils.

Awwww, wonderful. I only have the 24 colors set. :P

Good luck, your plans sound great! ♥ *hugs*

I had the 24-color set for awhile, too. Loved them enough that I really wanted the 120-color set. Well worth it! :D

Thanks! :D

if you feel like coming back to florida, im still looking for somebody to do the muddy buddy with.....:) no, but glad to hear that youre doing well. good luck with animation, i think its definitely something you already have some talent and background in, which is awesome. my field is pretty competitive too (tv production), i know that panic of wondering if youll ever find a job in something you love. best of luck!

I definitely need to come back and visit Florida at some point! Unfortunately I lack the money right now. :(

Been e-mailing with an admissions office, though, and after seeing some sketches they really think I should apply to their MFA program... eep!

Good luck with your animation program Kirsten. Zoo keeping is very competitive. I spent a lot of years volunteering at a zoo in different animal departments. I had quite a few contacts and I still was never even interviewed for any entry level keeper positions, I applied for. Its one of the reasons I decided to stray away from the field. There are much more applicants than job openings unfortunately. Best of luck to you and keep in touch!

Thanks! I'm still trying on the zookeeping positions right now. I have volunteer experience - I've been volunteering (even in animal care positions!) since high school! And on top of that, I have PAID experience with lots of mammal species! But still nothing. *sigh* I've put in a few different applications this week. I'm also looking into field research positions, too, 'cause I'd love to get research under my belt and possibly go to grad school.

It's so all up in the air right now, gah.
