I kinda like this one. It's so wacky and weird, but also very amusing.
The scene in the parking garage is hilarious. Scully and Reyes playing checkers, Burt Reynolds happily dancing, frustrated!Scully shooting at the door... awesome.
Oh, and also: Ellen Greene, Aunt Vivian from Pushing Daisies! Yay.
I didn't care for this episode, but the music was neat (if out of place), and all the little quirks having to do with numbers or keeping a beat or whatever were kind of fun. Overall, though, I didn't really get it. It's like they were trying to do a comedy episode... but it wasn't funny.
And it bugged me that everyone clapped for Reyes when she came in, as if she'd made this amazing discovery by linking the cases, when in reality it was actually *Scully* who made the connection with the ring marks on the victims' faces - everyone thought Reyes' numerology idea was insane, so I don't know why they were applauding her.
I don't know why I didn't think of doing this earlier... but I totally wrote mini reviews on my LJ of S9 eps. Here were my initial thoughts right after first seeing it when it aired:
Um...ye-ah. Alright. First off, I think that this ep is the WORST of the season, maybe one of the worst ever? :P I mean, what was with that strange french/italien music? It was weird, man! I could understand the french song lyrics and it was all nonsense, just like the episode. Reyes seemed like such a ditz for most of the hour, which I didn't like. I don't know. I just got back from reading some of the comments at the OS message boards, and I'm really surpised at how many people say it's the best episode this season O_o;; Um...sure. The music totally got on my nerves, there was like, no story line, IMO, and everyone was just *strange*! Especially all those other FBI people. Who was that guy giving Reyes, Scully and Doggett orders???? I have to say that I like Lord of the Flies better than this episode. There were only a few things I liked during "
