Nathan jumps about a foot. He whirls around to smack whoever sneaked up behind him but is met with empty space. It takes him a moment to realize what is going on and when he does he scowls.
Angela had grown up in a world of magic and the supernatural, but the concept of having a 'super power' was entirely unfamiliar to her. She responded to the question with a quizzical look, raising a brow ridge.
She should have been more careful. In New York, people had regarded her kind with fear and hatred. In Xanadu, they had been curious and, most importantly, understanding. It hadn't occurred to her to approach Nathan cautiously. Angela had allowed herself to forget just how frightening her appearance could be.
"I'm sorry," she said, sincerely, "I didn't mean to startle you. My name is Angela. I am a gargoyle."
"You say that like there's another option besides living forever." Richard says this in a dry, straightforward tone, but his version of sarcasm is there if you squint with your ears.
"Yes, the duds like temporal manipulation, telekinesis. The ability to heal. Who wouldn't pass those up in exchange for an eternity in the world's most tiresome company?"
