"Shoot myself repeatedly in the head."

...Lovely. You don't actually have to share that with everyone, Gary.

"Are you mentally deficient?"

Mildly, "Might make things easier."

"Whacko. What does shooting yourself repeatedly accomplish?"

There's a voice behind Nathan that belongs to a body he can't see. "I would be a bit more discreet."

Nathan jumps about a foot. He whirls around to smack whoever sneaked up behind him but is met with empty space. It takes him a moment to realize what is going on and when he does he scowls.

"Would you PLEASE not do that?!"

Simon neither agrees nor disagrees, but he remains invisible. "I need to learn how to best control my powers."

"A super power?"

Angela had grown up in a world of magic and the supernatural, but the concept of having a 'super power' was entirely unfamiliar to her. She responded to the question with a quizzical look, raising a brow ridge.

Nathan eyes the creature before him. "What the hell are you?"

She should have been more careful. In New York, people had regarded her kind with fear and hatred. In Xanadu, they had been curious and, most importantly, understanding. It hadn't occurred to her to approach Nathan cautiously. Angela had allowed herself to forget just how frightening her appearance could be.

"I'm sorry," she said, sincerely, "I didn't mean to startle you. My name is Angela. I am a gargoyle."

Nathan stares at her. And then stares some more. And then he grins.

"Really? You sure you not some nerd in a really expensive costume?"

He begins to approach her, his body language nonthreatening and extremely curious.

"You say that like there's another option besides living forever." Richard says this in a dry, straightforward tone, but his version of sarcasm is there if you squint with your ears.

"Yeah, there is - like mind reading or flight or invisibility."

"That's not what I meant. You asked what there is to do with immortality. The answer kind of speaks for itself, doesn't it? Live forever."

"Well, yeah, of course that. I meant what else should be done? Should it be used for good or for evil?"

"That's a superpower now?" Alan doesn't groan outright, but neither does he sound terribly taken with the idea.

"What happened to the old standbys--flight, teleportation, mind control?"

"The universe was fresh out of lame powers and decided to start passing out the A-list powers."

"Yes, the duds like temporal manipulation, telekinesis. The ability to heal. Who wouldn't pass those up in exchange for an eternity in the world's most tiresome company?"

"If you're immortal you do heal. Just so you know, friend."
