Hasibe (or 'Norea', as she is frequently called around these parts) is half-distracted by adjusting the sit of one very high heel, leaned against a nearby table in the Agora, but she glances up at this line of inquiry. Given the company she keeps, she tends to hear a lot of those lines floating around, even if they aren't directed her way...although that happens, too...and thus, has developed something of a tolerance.

"I've never used any," Hasi admits, "but the most recent one was a guy with a flower, going 'I just wanted to show this rose how pretty you are.'"

She's more wryly amused than disdainful. "And before that, in all seriousness: 'I forgot my phone number, can I have yours?' Which is a line that must be older than I am, honestly."

Rachel looks over, eyebrows raised. "The rose one," she notes, bemused, "now that's new. If a bit cheesy. But that stupid phone number one, that was floating around back when I was in college, too."

Older than she is--Rachel doesn't think the other lady looks particularly old but she's not sure if it's rude to point that out somehow.

"In fact I think I might have busted the phone number one out myself once, but in my defense, I was drunk and I was being silly with a friend. I don't think I could actually go up to someone and say that, you know, seriously."

Hasibe is twenty-six (and carries herself like she's a bit older, which is mostly to do with comfort in her own skin), so she's assuming the line predates the early eighties--a long time, all things considered. She straightens up, smoothing down the skirt of her dress, and inclines her head, tone agreeable.

"Yes, it's one thing, I think, to mess around--it's kind of acknowledging the humor in it--and that one's not as egregious as, say, anything to do with pants and mirrors." Hasi would like to believe no one ever attempts those in all seriousness, but she has evidence to the contrary.

Rachel is also twenty-six, but lacking in that same comfort and confidence in herself, so she feels very, very young still.

She nods knowingly. "I've heard that one, too, about seeing yourself in someone's pants. I spent a lot of time in fraternity houses, at least the first half of my college career. Some of those really terrible lines are starting to come back to me, now."
