Deane Winchester knew that convincing the coachman in Dorsey to fake a broken carriage wheel two hours into the journey to Westshire was the finest investment he had yet made within his lifetime - and that the pretty young widow who refused to flirt with him, in spite of his obvious advances, was worth every penny.

The furnishings may yet survive... At least until I return home. ;-P

But I did finally divulge that Deane sabotaged the carriage to spend time with Penelope. I don't think he realized that she was Penelope at the time, simply that she was pretty and would make for a nice diversion up in Westshire.

Of course, Samuel doesn't know that he did it. And Penelope certainly doesn't know.

I've come late into your playground, but I'm having a lot of fun catching up! This was great -- the banter between the two, the tongue-in-cheek prose, Victorian smut. What more can a girl ask for?

Thank you so much! I really need to get back to this 'verse, as I miss writing in it. (I enjoy it entirely too much...) And I'm thrilled you picked up on the tongue-in-cheek prose. I've worked hard to make it authentic but with a modern sensibility.
