So the Zombie King and I just returned from viewing the rough cut of Serenity. I'll do the long, spoileriffic stuff in another post, but just a bit on the mood and experience.
Please, more details! (Did I really say that commenting on a Christine-post?) God knows when/if Serenity will make it to the hunnish silverscreen. And I miss Joss too. Did I mention I dreamt I was Buffy the other night? And I could fly! Unfortunately the dream ended with everyone in it suddenly being on a very lonely, drifting mini-planet that would come close to earth again in approximately 100 000 000 lightyears.
I didn't know you were one of the many people I know who I now hate that were going to see it! Did I miss a post? My apologies. Did i mention I hate you now? :p
Not that you are the best judge, but would somebody who never watched the series get anything out of the movie? Or does it assume you know who everybody is and what they are like?
I think that mr_booze and I were both agreed that, overall, yes this is accessible to those who hadn't watched the series. There might be one or two "Now what was that REALLY about?" questions afterward, but it's one hell of a scifi/action movie with a lot of fun comedy, just all on its own. Plus, there are many, many hot people.
Yes, I *think* it's acccessible to non-viewers. But then, I am absolutely unqualified to really judge that.
I can say that I think it definitely works for people who did like the show. I'll be very interested to start hearing feedback from neophytes. (One review I found online at leesmovieinfo.net said it was in fact the worst movie this year and one of the worst movies of all time. I have no idea who that guy is though.)

"Loved it, despite absence of flubber. Glaven!"
I don't know if that will amuse anyone anywhere, but it amused me, and that's all that matters.
