May 06, 2005 01:00

So the Zombie King and I just returned from viewing the rough cut of Serenity. I'll do the long, spoileriffic stuff in another post, but just a bit on the mood and experience.

Our saga begins with an all-IT meeting at O'Dark Thirty )

For the record, at the bottom of my survey form, even though they didn't provide any place for an actual comment I wrote:

"Loved it, despite absence of flubber. Glaven!"

I don't know if that will amuse anyone anywhere, but it amused me, and that's all that matters.

The whole quote is from an episode of The Simpsons, where Mel Gibson has a screening of his new movie for Springfield, and is reviewing the comment cards afterwards.

He's reading the cards, saying "Loved it, loved it, loved it, loved it despite absence of flubber...glaven?"

Professor Frink on The Simpsons is a blatant Jerry Lewis caricature, and shouts "Glaven!" all the time as a random Jerry Lewisy thing. The way Mel actually delivers the line still cracks me up whenever I hear it.
