December came and SHINee once again had a full schedule. It was pretty okay since the pressure was now evenly shared between the two pregnant members, but they could do nothing about Gayo Daejun. And, like any other year, they were expected to pull off multiple flawless performances.
There were several songs to practice and the members could be found constantly going from room to room, a mess of idols from all companies rushing through the maze-like corridors. They suspect that this was how the news about the SHINee’s double pregnancies leaked. Someone must have heard them commenting on it.
The media was absolutely crazy; it became the most searched topic of Korea, and Jonghyun now had to force a smile everytime he was asked about it.
“I'm raising the baby alone. And we won't be releasing any information on the father, it's personal.”
The blonde was being nagged for a conclusive answer at every show he appeared, but was successful in keeping his mouth shut. Instead it was Minho, ever so gentle Minho, who could barely hold it together when people spread a rumor that he was the father of Jonghyun's child too. It was Taemin's firm grip on his wrist and his energetic, no-nonsense reply to the media that always saved them from a fiasco.
They took to annoucing their engagement, saying they were very happy with the second child and ignoring any stinging comments to the best of their abilities. Where he had recieved discrete disapproving glances the first time he was expecting, now Taemin could almost feel the jealousy of the noonas and hyungs around him. He was getting married, had a perfect balance of the hectic idol life and motherhood, and a beautiful, gentle, faithful man in love with him. All before eighteen. His innocent smile now held just a hint of smugness.
Jonghyun went back to SHINee's pratice room at 3PM, ready to tear his hair out with frustation. He had just been practicing with K.Will, and though well-intentioned, the guy just wouldn't stopped asking questions. He was ready to pass out on his bed, but still had at least 12 hours of practice ahead of him.
“Gah! I need a break!” He slammed the door, but no one really paid attention. Shindong, Mir, Joon, and Key were all swaying their hips and chest-popping in the center of the room. A male rendition of Muzik played loudly, overpowering any other noise.
Taemin was sitting in the back of the room, Munhee between his legs and the Nanny-ahjumma beside him. The magnae was sweaty, obviously from praticing hard, but still found time to calmly feed Munhee badly cut pieces of fruit he had proudly slaughtered himself.
“Yah~ At least look at your hyung when he enters the room,” Jonghyun's voice lacked any real sting as he carefully took a seat on the floor near Taemin. He was now three months along and the swell started to show, making him quite disconcerted and just a bit unbalanced. The magnae seemed completely unfazed by his own, even though it was showing quite a bit more.
“Oh, hyung! Welcome back. How are you feeling?” That was a standard question now; every member went out of his way to make sure Jonghyun had everything he needed and was feeling loved and well cared for. It was getting tiring and he let out a long-suffering sigh to prove it before answering.
“I'm fine Taemin-ah, thank you. Just people asking, same old, same old.”
Taemin smiled and looked back down at his son, offering a piece of kiwi that looked suspiciously like a star. “Open up for the shooting star, Munnie~”
The blonde tried really hard to hold it in, but ended up snorting anyway. Taemin pouted - the fruit slaughter joke was old. Jonghyun's face was already turning an unhealthy shade of red when he finally couldn't hold his laughter in anymore.
“Yah! I'm trying here!” Taemin shoved his shoulder, but laughter was already seeping through his words.
Jonghyun ended up lying on the floor, laughing till he couldn't breath, Taemin giggling against his shoulder.
“Ahhh! That felt good. Thank you, Minnie.” The lead singer felt much lighter now. Having a good laugh about something did wonders for his nerves. He reached out a careful hand to ruffle Munhee's hair, wonder filling him. Will he be cutting strangely shaped food for his kid too? And waking up at wee hours of their short nights to check on the baby, even when it's not crying? Carry the baby everywhere or leave it at home with an ahjumma?
“Hyung! Anybody home?” Taemin's knuckles lightly rapping against his forehead brought him out of his reverie, making him blink and look up at the magnae. “Oh good, you're back. I asked if pratice was okay.”
“Oh, it was fine. I think we're done with this music. One down, one-hundred-twenty-something to go.” He sighed, closing his eyes. He had only trained for songs until now, no dancing. So what lay ahead was the tiring part. Deep down he was a little worried, a little scared of hurting the baby.
“Don't be afraid of dancing, hyung. It's okay.” The blond blinked up at him and then sat down.
“What the hell, are you reading minds now, magnae?”
Taemin sent him a playful smile, and quickly looked back down to feed Munhee what looked like a a heart-shaped melon. “It's not rocket-science after all those questions at the doctor's office~” He sang, taking advantage of the fact that he held all the important information this time.
Jonghyun tried to come up with a witty retort but couldn't find one. He instead chose to pull a face of mock displeasure and threw a random paper ball at the magnae's head. Munhee clapped in delight and they shared a amused glance.
It was quiet for a while, only the same song on repeat and the thundering sounds of their friends’ feet on the hardwood floor. The amicable silence was only broken when Munhee, who was finished with his lunch, turned inside the protection of Taemin's arms to rest an ear to his belly. The magnae smiled fondly. “Minho taught him to do that. We tell him about his brother or sister all the time, even if he's not completly sure what we are talking about.”
Jonghyun couldn't help but smile at the sight of Munhee looking up at his mother expectantly and patting the slight bulge.
“Yes, Munnie-ah, that's a baby. In a few months mommy will give you a little brother or sister and you're gonna be a big brother. Isn't that super cool?” Munhee nodded seriously, like he was agreeing to the utmost important decision in the world, and plastered his ear back on Taemin's stomach. The magnae shot a silly grin toward Jonghyun.
The lead singer could not help but smile back and reach out to pinch Munnie's cheek, who immediately pushed his hand away with an annoyed expression. Oho. Kid is learning fast. Jonghyung always thought he was ridiculously smart. “Aigoooo~~ So cute~”

Endless rehearsals and a tight schedule made the days pass them in a blur. Before they could even fathom, it was already the last day of Gayo Daejun. SHINee was tired, absolutely drained from all work they had done these last few days to be ready for the biggest show of korean television, and up until now everything had run flawlessly.
For the SHINee boys, it was just as busy as the past few days, if not more. Hair, make-up, final rehearsals. To top it off, the nanny-ahjumma they were used to having had to leave. SME got them a new one, a young girl named Kim Dae. Taemin felt a bit guilty about asking the nanny to stay with them the whole day, but he would rather keep the new girl under his watchful eye for a few days before trusting his most precious thing in the world to her.
Two hours before the show and they already had a minor-crisis in the waiting room. Munhee was unusually fussy, crying a river when Minho had to take him from Taemin's lap so the magnae could get dressed. He was refusing the nanny, Key, Jonghyun, Onew, and even Minho himself.
“Munnie-ah~ It's okay, appa is here. It's okay, it's okay. Look! It's Heechul-hyung~ You want to go talk him? Do you? Let's go~” Minho was trying his very best, but all Munhee did was cry several decibels higher and stretch a chubby hand in the general direction of Taemin.
Key sighed after his nth time trying to entertain the baby, glaring at Taemin with his hands on his waist. “Yah, Taemminie! Are you almost done?”
The magnae looked up, his face anguished, worried, and just a little bit flustered. He was squeezing into obviously too-tight pants, shirt unbuttoned and hair unstyled. Munhee had been attached to his side all day long. “Hm..I... Just-Just give me a minute.”
“This is not going to work. You need to get ready. Let's go for a walk Munhee-ah. Oh~~ Look, the Soshi-noona~” Minho turned away from Taemin, ignoring the crying as it got louder by the second and left the room.
Taking Taemin out of his sight seemed to do the trick and Munhee finally calmed down as they visited the dressing rooms. His cheeks were a rosy pink from being well pinched, his hair ruffled, and pockets filled with candy by the time they made it back to their own dressing room. His face was considerably drier too.
“We're back~~” Minho smooched several noisy kisses on his son's cheek and neck, making the child laugh and squirm uncontrollably. His smile grew when he noticed all his hyungs laughing around him. He couldn't help but start too. “Heh~What?”
Key was too breathless to talk, so he just pointed to the end of the room, where Taemin was just as undressed as he was several minutes ago.
The magnae was pouting and hugging his shirt to his chest. He stretched from his slouched position when a giggling coordi-noona handed him a new shirt. Taemin quickly tried it on, ignoring when a fully dressed Jonghyun slid bonelessly from the sofa to the floor.
“Yeah, Jonghyun-hyung. You keep laughing. Don't forget that it will happen to you soon enough.” The magnae was trying his best to button up the shirt, but it was just too small and stretched awkwardly over his belly. He pouted even more, turning large doe eyes to the coordi-noona. 'Noona, can you please get me something looser to wear? I'm starting to show~”
She appeared to think this over for a while, so Taemin enhanced his already powerful innocent look. “Aigo! So cute!” She pinched his cheeks and the magnae grunted internally. “Yeah sure, noona will find you something to wear, don't worry. Everything will be fine, just let noona handle it.”
She left the room in a second and Taemin grabbed a hoodie to cover himself. He walked past his recovering hyungs without a glance, his pride just a little wounded. “Hnf. Come to umma, Munnie, you won't laugh at me, right?”
-
A black coat, quick sewing of details, and a lot of hairspray later, there was no telling that this was not the intended outfit for the evening.
“Let's just be glad that your special stage outfit is loose, right Taeminnie?” Key teased and Jonghyun's barking laughter echoed from the front of the line they were in, ready to go on stage. The magnae discretely kicked his hyung's shin.
“Yah!” Key was about to slap some sense into Taemin's pretty head when Minho hugged the magnae from behind, sending Kibum an amused look.
“Don't listen to them, Minnie. You look beautiful.” He buried his face in the magnae's neck and chuckled when Munhee, still attached to Taemin's side, caressed his face with clumsy hands.
The magnae, pacified with the affection, turned his head to for just a tiny peck on the lips, but was stopped by the sudden appearence of his manager.
“Now, now. You boys behave. It's time to go. Give the velcro-baby to Dae-shii, ok?” He nodded to the nanny, who took Munhee from Taemin's arms and went back into the dressing room. Minho glanced back warily, following her with his eyes. There was just something about her...
“SHINee, you're up!”
They were spurred into action by their managers and the cheering of the audience.
-
As the performances went by, Taemin made sure of running back to their dressing room, just to check on Munhee. Everything was going well; the new nanny fed him, changed him, and by the last break, was patting his back and singing quietly. The baby was almost asleep on her shoulder.
“I think we overreacted.” Minho whispered to Taemin, who was fixing his hair for their last performance.
“Yeah, I know. She's doing very well.” The magnae smiled, watching the scene from the mirror.
-
The last performance finished and Happy-New Year's exchanged, SHINee rushed back to their dressing room with smiles on their faces.
“We're doooonee~~” A grinning Jonghyun face-planted on a couch while Onew chose the floor instead. Key laughed and sat on his boyfriend's behind.
“Very good, boys! That was an awesome performance. We should go eat something, my treat!” The manager patted Taemin's back and hugged Minho close, but was quick to realize they were not laughing with him, just looking around. “What's wrong?”
Minho kept quiet, scanning the room and the people within carefully one more time. Taemin walked to the door and did the same to the corridor. It was Jonghyun who broke the silence.
“Where is Munhee?”
