Having rescued the cats and now having no cats in the house as they fled into the wilds once they had half a chance my ankles are even more swollen and during the last few days I did something to my wrist. I'm staying as static as I can get away with, plan a bath (though I will miss the tub in the Hotel, it was very deep!) and veging along with ( Read more... )

Bit worried about your ankles. Did you do loads of walking? I know mine get so swelled up after a weeks work that i have to wear bigger shoes for my Sunday shift!

HUGE amount of walking. My ankles are a bit weak and my calf muscles are too tight all the time. It's a problem that I don't know what to do with. I occasionally get massage to try to rest it.

If you come over to Oxford sometime, let me know in advance and I'll book a time for you with "my" massage therapist. She's managed to fix my tight back for me so I for the first time (ever?) can touch the floor with my fingertips while still having reasonably straight legs (touching the floor with hands is doable on good days).

I've had massage people hurt me trying to get them relaxed. That really doesn't work. They're overbig and it's almost possible that I may have to have surgery some day. At the moment they're so tight that regularly what happens is that the muscle tears and then it builds more muscle to fill the space, creating more bulk which isn't helping the situation. It's driving me nuts, particularly when people talk about how I should really walk more!

I sometimes wonder about the story of the mermaid geting legs because sometimes the pain feels like walking on glass.
