I cast magic missile!

Wheeeee! I played my first D&D 4.0 game last night. I went with a half-elf paladin and used a halberd (squee!), which worked out a lot better than you might think. I'm still getting used to the new rules. Spells and skills have been revamped, which I'm still not quite used too ( Read more... )

I'm of mixed opinions. While I like the fact that they're giving characters the chance to get more feats and make skills easier to use and attributes rise faster....I really dislike the push AWAY from unique creativity.

Example: in this version, fighters MUST use bladed weapons. It's a requirement, practically, for the powers. So my thoughts of playing a fighter that specialized with the bow, or with a staff, are right out the window. The cleric that's a totally hippy is out too. I'm having alot of trouble finding a character I'd like to play other than the first one (a halfling rogue - I've got him prepped to the points thaty he's going to WILLINGLY have ppl try to make attacks of opportunity on him, because he gets an extra +8 to his AC on attacks of opportunity against him, that's a total of +24 to the AC roll, it's ginormous)

Oh, and another thing. The lack of Macintosh support on the D&DInsider tools is a BIG fucking disappointment.
