Trust you to keep me well stocked in good fic. *hugs you tight*

I remember now that you're the one who recced "Ambush" to me. It's one of the stories in my recced fic folder, so yeah, I saw it, but I couldn't remember what had been said about it or what should make it stand apart from my other recced fics. I'm definitely going to grab this one for the trip, because if you loved it enough to mention it.. what?.. three or four times now? It must be great.

Have we talked about "An Act of Deliberation" before? I simply love novembersguest (and finally got the nerve to tell her that, so yay me!). She's fantastic. I read this one last year, I think. It's amazing. I'm marking it to re-read, but not on this trip. Loved loved loved. Thanks for the reminder.

wave_obscura is another wonderful author. I don't think I've read this one, though. Thanks for the rec!

You are welcome on the rec. Glad to be of service. I absolutely loved Ambush. Might need to read it again soon. And Because of Houdini is another wonderful fic, might have to reread that one again soon. Like I said earlier, she is currently writing a sequel to Houdini, which I am not going to read until she is done. I don't like reading WIPs. Waiting for the next chapter to be posted is pure agony sometimes, so I wait until the author is done. So before the next one is finished, I'll probably reread this one. She has Sam and Dean's voices down really well. Good luck in choosing and happy reading!

I totally understand about WIPs. I try not to start them, but have occasionally been sucked in. I have a bookmark folder for these too, and every once in a while I go through them to see if they've been finished yet.

Thanks! I'm going through your second list now. I hope you realize how much you rock!

I might have been the one who recced 'Golem' and 'He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother' to you. They're certainly gems in my favorites list. Yup, I've read both of these many, many times each. Thanks ( ... )

You know my tastes pretty well by now apparently. :D Oh, yes, I'm going to try 'A Good Man is Hard to Find'. I trust your opinion.

I'm excited about sinking my teeth into these fics!

Hmmmm, how about stories by gaelicspirit? She loves to whump poor old Dean, and her tales are long and satisfying. Here's a couple of my favorites:

Wearing and Tearing (Dean and John, Stanford-era)
http://gaelicspirit.livejournal.com/63339.html

Heroes for Ghosts (Timetravel to the Old West)
http://gaelicspirit.livejournal.com/63339.html

Also, big pink is wonderful! She does so much research on her backgrounds, etc. and the cases are well-plotted. Try "Dazzleland", "Red" or "Fire in the Hole."

(sorry, I don't know how to do direct links!)

Wearing and Tearing is one of my favorites of Gaelic's stories. It's also one of the few I ever left a review for in my lurker days. Heh. But it moved me that much. She's amazing!

I thought I'd read all of Gaelic's stories, but apparently I missed "Heroes for Ghosts"! I'm taking this one on the trip for certain! Yay!

I've heard of big pink. I know I've read "Snuggle Bitch".. very funny! But I don't think I've read her other fics. Adding them. *whistles happily*

(I'm still figuring some things out with LJ, but I think I've got a good understanding of the basics. I'd be happy to give you pointers if you need... just ask!)

Thank you so much for putting this list together for me! I'll try to let you know what I thought of the fics when I get back.

Seconding pdragon76's fic! I'll read most anything, but I'm rea~lly picky about long!fics. "Blind Spot" was the first SPN fan fic I ever read, and I devoured it twice. Admittedly, I skipped some parts (OC or smut centric) but it's easy enough to do, since I get the feeling you'll be skimming the brief smut parts, too. The H/C is pitch-perfect and Dean is fantastic and so is Sam and so is Jo and so is Meg and so is Bobby and did I mention the H/C elements? Absolutely spine-tingling. Yum.

Very heavily seconded. XD

The weird thing is that I'm much more touchy about smut now than I ever was in my younger years. I was a young teen when I started reading the "Clan of the Cavebear" series. If you've never heard of it, it's a pre-historic series based on a time when neanderthal-type men and modern men roamed the earth together. Lots of detailed sex scenes. And I devoured them. Started steering away from that kind of thing as I got older, though.

Thanks for the second. I'm intending to print this one for my trip. Can't wait!

Me too, actually. I'll still read it now, but my endurance for smut scenes and the degree to which the smut is described is much lower. When I was 13-15 I read metric tons of smut fic. Then it kind of tapered off, though I'd still read plenty of ethereal, vanilla sex and then, on the other end, BDSM and noncon stuff.

For SPN fandom I've read some Dean/OMC one night stand (which admittedly, I truly love), some Wincest, some Dean/Jo, some Sam/Ruby, etc. but only in small doses. If it's an entire fic based on PWP I lose interest and skip or I stop reading (the scenes in "Blind Spot" aren't long or overly explicit, but I skipped them anyway, ahaha). Phenomenal fic, though. Be sure and tell us what you thought of it! :)
