I am a grumpykins today 'cos of lack of enough sleep, so I figured I might as well get something out of it by posting some of the stuff that my inexplicably hyperactive brain went over last night. Don't expect a point here, btw, just ramblings of a tired mind ( Read more... )

You have my empathy. I'm the same. Down to going without something rather than have to go into a shop or bank by myself.

We social shy people have to stick together. ;)

See my recent post, too, about how diet can affect this, as well.

I am so relieved that my kids are much more independent and confident and unshy than I was, or am even after working on it!

I watched a show years back that suggested that shyness had a biological component that was genetically passed on.
That doesn't mean that you can't change if you want to change.

I've missed job interviews
This is where it crosses over into a disorder, when it's interfering with your ability to do such things.

And I've learned how to 'do it anyway', even when I'm scared. Sometimes.A disorder you're fighting against and from the sound of things winning against ( ... )

So what I was getting at in my other comment, is that shyness does often have a psychological cause, sometimes even a philosophical cause. I know that my philosophy was a great contributor towards, if not the cause of, my shyness towards girls. And that I've now fixed that.
