"Alright! Sword down, Lancelot!"

"Lancelot? I am not Lancelot!" Arthur glared at the strange looking man who was currently pointing a strangely formed chunk of metal at him.

"Fine. Drop it anyway!"

"No."

"What???"

"I am a prince and therefore of royal heritage. I can't just drop my sword like a commoner!"

"Could you, please, hand it over then, Prince Charming?"

"I am Arthur Pendragon, this is my sword, who are you to even think that you are worthy of my sword?"

The strange looking man lowered his thing for a moment and blinked at Arthur but recomposed himself very quickly again. "Captain Jack Harkness, at your service."

"A captain..."Arthur raised his brows. "Why should I entrust my sword to you?"

"Because of my dashing smile?" Jack winked at the prince. "Trust me to handle your sword to your greatest satisfaction."

"I am not to be ridiculed!"

"No, of course not, your Highness but I think you're scaring the little girl over there with your big, shiny sword."

"Why would that be?" Arthur lowered his sword, looking straight at the little girl.

"Mmh... I don't know... Maybe because you're using it to threaten her father? It's just a guess though."

The prince remembered the commoner at the other side of his sword and glared at the man. "He pushed me!"

Raising his hands, the slightly intimidated and thoroughly confused commoner wished he would have stayed at home and watched TV like he initially intended to but no. Go out and spend some quality time with Lily, Gavin. Go to the bay, be a good daddy and let her have a ride on the merry-go-round. I'll have the lunch ready when you're back. Now he was being threatened by a loony with a sword... Emma's roasted lamb better be worth it. "Listen, mate, I already told you that I didn't do it on purpose."

"See what he calls me? Mate! This peasant is disrespecting me!" Arthur looked at Jack as if he had just proven a point.

"Might I remember your royalness that this is not your kingdom. So if you would please have the kindness to lower your sword we could all get on with our lives." Jack lowered his strange weapon and stored it somewhere below his spacious coat.

Arthur fought a silent staring battle with the other man before he slid his sword back into its scabbard.

The captain watched Gavin stumbling away with his daughter and flashed Arthur a curt but tight lipped smile. "Now if your highness would be so nice to follow me."

"I can't."

Palming his face, taking a deep breath but still with a smile on his lips Jack asked very slowly. "Why not?"

"I need to find my manservant."

"I bet he is allowed to hold your sword." Jack muttered, now rubbing his temples.

"He is my manservant. Of course he is allowed to hold my sword, someone has to polish it!"

"I bet he is good at handling your sword."

"Not at all, he is lazy, insubordinate and hopelessly incapable."

"Still you let him handle your sword."

"Drop these profanities!"

"You are no fun."

"I have no time for this. God knows what kind of trouble Merlin got himself into this time."

"Why so worried if he really is that incapable?"

"That's none of your business!"

"Fine." Jack shrugged. "I just thought you might want to see him. Whoa! Easy." The captain raised his arms and made a few steps back to get his throat out of piercing distance. "I thought we agreed on keeping our swords out of this conversation."

"You don't have a sword."

"Figuratively spoken. Boy, I know why I kept away from your times. You people had to take everything so literally."

"Speak clearly captain!" Arthur hissed, more than just annoyed.

"Your...manservant, Merlin you say? He is with Ianto." Jack replied carefully, not liking the way the prince waved the blade about in front of his throat.

"Who is Ianto?"

"Ianto is..." Jack made a thoughtful pause and continued with a grin. "My manservant and opposed to yours very capable of getting his job done. He certainly knows how to handle a sword."

"Stop insulting my manservant! And who says that I can trust you?"

"Oh, are we going to have the sword discussion again?" Jack muttered and rolled his eyes.

"What were you saying?"

"Nothing. Alright, you are worried about your friend, I understand that." The captain made a quick step to the side and held the tip of the blade between thumb and index finger, effectively preventing Arthur to make a strike. "BUT you have to trust me on this. We are not trying to hurt you."

"You better not, my sword is lethal." Arthur replied, increasingly irritated by this strange man in his strange coat with his strange behaviour and strange manners who was slowly treading closer, sliding his fingers along the blank blade until he was standing in immediate proximity to the prince.

"I'm convinced of that my prince but I'm a man not easy to be killed."

A bit too close for Arthur to feel entirely comfortable as he glared at the man who was holding his sword hand in an iron-like grip. "Are you threatening me?"

"Did anyone ever tell you that you're cute when you're miffed?"

"Wha...?"

Arthur didn't even get the chance to react to the sudden kiss as he felt a sudden impact on his neck and everything went black.

"And you're even cuter when you're unconscious. Someone's seriously gotta work on his attitude." Jack took the sword from Arthur to prevent him from hurting himself and watched as the prince sank down to the ground. He shrugged, took a look at the sword and slid it back into Arthur's scabbard. "Nice, but I've seen better ones..."

Jack hoisted the prince up on his shoulder. "I hope I didn't cause any temporary trouble by knocking you out." He winked at the unconscious man. "But the kiss is going to stay a little secret between the two of us, right?"

He couldn't help a smile when Ianto's voice sounded through his communicator. "Ianto, man of the hour! Good job! Merlin and Prince Arthur... Yep, couldn't help it, he had to cite it in front of all the bystanders... I think we should go with 'Experimental Theatre Group Running Wild' we haven't had that yet... Well, he's with me...and a bit unconscious, had to take him out... Oh come on! He was annoying and dangerous... Never good to fool you, huh? ...What, jealous? ...Want me to make up for it? …Yeah, see you in five."

Depositing the prince in the SUV the captain could barely suppress a grin. This was going to be a promising afternoon.
