Locked to Ron and Hermione

Hello you two love birds

How are you getting on with the talking things?

Only we've had an idea

Yes

It was something Padma said about remembering the codenames

We think we've got a translator charm.

So if you say the REAL name first, it tells you the codename.

So if we said "Hermione" then the machine would say " ( Read more... )

Its a very advantageous arrangement: you two are kept out of mischief, the chickens are cleaner and happier and I get to spend time with Ernie.

Happiness all round!

I'll even let you have a thing called a Tunnocks - its delicious!

Okay then!

I'm sure we can squeeze some fun out of this

So long as you keep your friend away while we create mayhem do it.

A Tunnocks you say?

Sounds like a rude word to me

And me.

"He hexed me, right in the Tunnocks"

HaHa

Interesting.

How can you be sure that this modification couldn't be used by someone on the wrong side who looted a device from a dead bo happened to find a device that had been accidentally dropped?

Though I suppose it's a better option than writing the code names on a piece of paper. Remember Neville Longbottom did that with the Gryffindor password that time?

Well we suppose they'd need to know the charm was there in the first place.

I mean it is just possible that they will press the button and just say "Harry"

On the other hand, what would they do with the information.

I suppose they could give duff instructions or something

Wouldn't you recognise the voice?

Dunno

I don't know... it makes me feel uneasy. I mean, since we've gone to all the trouble to create codes, giving anyone a means of breaking that code is potentially fatal!

I think we'd better not, thanks all the same. There is a code for "All Lights" if you do manage to forget everyone's codename. I'm not risking putting Harr anyone in danger - this portable floo is risky enough if someone like Malfoy gave aw overheard the codenames.

Or - I just had this idea, if you truly need to get in touch with one person, we could set up an easily remembered code for base, that whoever is back at Thorne in the War room - possibly Madam Pince? - who could give you the code for the person you wanted. Though that's ripe for misuse too.

Just learn the codes or use All Lights. I think that's the best way. Sorry and all that...it is a good idea for a charm...but...best not to.

Hermione.

I think Hermone's right on this one like you're surprised. Maybe we could get into the habit of using our codenames when we're doing Order stuff, to get people into practice? It's not going to be any harder than learning the names of charms or Quidditch players, or game manouevres.

If you're feeling inventive, though, how about coming up with a way to fix the clock we used to have at the Burrow? Or maybe make a bigger version - I know we've got the map and stuff, but something that could go on the wall of the War Room that'd show at a glance if anyone was in immediate danger.

If you don't mind occasional heavy lifting, I could use a few more hands for lugging some boxes around Thorne. And if either of you have any idea about some of the more terrifying eclectic bits of Muggle first-aid equipment, pointers would be useful.

What's wrong with levitation?

We're good at that!

And we'd like to see the Muggle stuff

Count us in!
