Locked to Ron and Hermione
Hello you two love birds
How are you getting on with the talking things?
Only we've had an idea
Yes
It was something Padma said about remembering the codenames
We think we've got a translator charm.
So if you say the REAL name first, it tells you the codename.
So if we said "Hermione" then the machine would say "

I'm sure we can squeeze some fun out of this

How can you be sure that this modification couldn't be used by someone on the wrong side who looted a device from a dead bo happened to find a device that had been accidentally dropped?
Though I suppose it's a better option than writing the code names on a piece of paper. Remember Neville Longbottom did that with the Gryffindor password that time?

I mean it is just possible that they will press the button and just say "Harry"
On the other hand, what would they do with the information.
I suppose they could give duff instructions or something
Wouldn't you recognise the voice?

I think we'd better not, thanks all the same. There is a code for "All Lights" if you do manage to forget everyone's codename. I'm not risking putting Harr anyone in danger - this portable floo is risky enough if someone like Malfoy gave aw overheard the codenames.
Or - I just had this idea, if you truly need to get in touch with one person, we could set up an easily remembered code for base, that whoever is back at Thorne in the War room - possibly Madam Pince? - who could give you the code for the person you wanted. Though that's ripe for misuse too.
Just learn the codes or use All Lights. I think that's the best way. Sorry and all that...it is a good idea for a charm...but...best not to.
Hermione.

If you're feeling inventive, though, how about coming up with a way to fix the clock we used to have at the Burrow? Or maybe make a bigger version - I know we've got the map and stuff, but something that could go on the wall of the War Room that'd show at a glance if anyone was in immediate danger.
