Stephen Fry's recent blog entry has been picked up by virtually every language planet in the blogosphere. But if you haven't seen it yet, it's very worth reading and finally settles those niggling doubts over where Stephen fits on the prescriptivist-descriptivist continuum. Happily, we now know. I've had that blog post open in my tabs since he posted it and STILL haven't got around to reading it. I really should - it keeps cropping up everywhere. And I love that paragraph. I was about to suggest printing it out, and then I saw you'd already told me to. So I will.

That video rocks my world. I want it to go viral so badly, and then I can say I was the third person to post it!

Well, I'm glad to help in that noble mission!

So tell me about your pilot. Who sees it now? Are they broadcasting it anywhere?

My pilot was one of two filmed. I think it will only be seen by the execs who commission new series, and, should the series be successful and produce a DVD I might be in the bonus features. Other than that I don't think it will be broadcast. Thank God!

But I'm going to see if I can get a copy - the advantage of knowing all the higher-ups!

Perhaps it is possible to be precise in and proud of one's own punctilious proofreading and proper punctuation without prissily and pedantically pointing out partings from prescription in public postings of the prices of peaches and pears?

(I swear, I didn't start out trying to alliterate, but you see, after the first few p's, I just couldn't help taking it all the way.)

I know, that was hilarious. I love that he can take the piss out of something while also taking it seriously. This is a good approach to many things, I feel.
