(WHO:) Tidus & Rinoa, OPEN (WHEN:) After classes (WHERE:) Flying field (WARNINGS:) Drinking, most likely inappropriate content between a teacher and a student. Nothing too bad.
Rinoa had a beautiful habit of appearing at the right place and the right time. In the time she had joined Hogwarts, she had already begun to make a few friends, and at the very least, she had several admirers who doted on her virility and easy smile. After Herbology, she had decided to meet a few new friends near the practice fields, but for what she wasn't sure.
The spring air was delightful. There was just enough chill in the breeze to keep her face tinged with rosy pink, but the smells and sounds were entirely new for the season. She felt alive in spring. She felt new.
Rinoa stopped in her tracks as she spotted Tidus, her first Hogwarts friend, and allowed a brilliant grin to spread over her face. Then, picking up her speed, she ran towards where he stood moping and waved a hand wildly. In that moment, she resembled a little girl getting a tremendous birthday present.
Somehow, someway, someone ruined Tidus's emo. Whether it be Wakka or those wild animals or something, it always happened.
"Hey--" He turned, slightly thrown back by her excitement. He smiled though, that smile that made third year girls blush and fourth years shake their heads. Almost expectantly, the wind blew through his well-tamed blonde locks.
What could he say? He was attractive.
"What's up?" he asked casually, as if he were student himself. He didn't want to feel so old. It was terrible.
Rinoa stopped short in front of him and flashed a bright grin.
"Hey there! I'm just here to meet some friends later. Though I'd come out a little early and soak up the sun. How are you?"
She noticed the hair, and the eyes, and the smile, and her heart skipped a beat. Not that she would have acknowledged it. He was a professor, after all!
Tidus smiled a little more. He knew right off the bat that Rinoa would make friends. She was just that type of person. Pushy yet enjoyable.
He... really enjoyed her company.
"I'm... old," he answered with a small laugh. "But living."
Well... technically, he wasn't that old. He had an odd thought, though. If this wasn't Rinoa's first year, if she'd been at Hogwarts all along, they would have been classmates. He would have been a seventh year when she was a first year.
... The thought caused an awkward lump to form in the back of his throat. He hoped she didn't notice.
Some time later, Tidus found himself in his classroom grading papers. He didn't like the fact that he had to make his first years write papers about flying on broomsticks. Obviously it would be better for them to try it out themselves.
This was what the blonde thought, despite the weekly injuries he had to explain.
And it was always the same. Always, oops-I'm-sorry-it'll-never-happen-again-yes-I-was-paying-attention-I'm-here-for-a-reason! Hoho, well, someone was bound to listen to him eventually. He couldn't be that bad if he never landed a date with Dumbledore.
While Tidus sat at his desk, eyes skimming over the paper before him, he almost forgot about the bottle of firewhisky sitting next to his foot, not visible under his desk.
It had occurred to Rinoa, sometime after she had lied to her newfound friends about her plans for the evening and before she rounded the corner to Tidus' office, that perhaps this was a bad idea. She hated being at odds with herself. She knew she was a good girl, and that she had morals, but she also knew that she could be reckless, stubborn, and put her life in danger without even realizing it. Hindsight was 20/20.
She could get in trouble for this. So could Tidus. When she stopped to actually think about what was happening, she felt herself flush with color and embarassment. This was a dumb, dumb idea, said the little voice in her head. The problem was that Rinoa never listened to it.
Rinoa rapped her knuckles against the door briefly, and instead of pausing to listen for a greeting, she extended her wand and softly whispered the encantation to crack the lock. Of course, the door opened, and Rinoa stood in the door frame beaming.
Tidus had been completely fine during the wait. He didn't regret their decision one bit, while he was alone. It was a perfectly acceptable thing to do. After all, she was old enough to purchase it herself. And if he had it, all he was doing was training to become a... merchant, or something.
That was what Tidus believed. Really, it was. He had no doubts at all.
"I'm here!"
...Scratch that. Tidus's stomach clenched when Rinoa entered the room, and he instantly was filled with second thoughts. What if he got fired? What if someone found out?
"Hey." Tidus's fears weren't noticeable in his voice, though, or in his chair. He stared at the paper before him, instead of Rinoa. For once, he felt almost a little awkward.
He didn't spare her a glance and so, pausing for a few moments in the doorway in confusion, she finally moved towards him after closing and locking the door behind her.
"Well, I'm here. Um. Hey."
She stepped forward and removed her robes, leaving only a thickly knit sweatshirt and a skirt underneath. "Can I help you grade anything? I don't want you to get behind or something."
Tidus sighed. He wished the alcohol would wear off so they could really talk. What Rinoa wanted was pretty obvious, but what he wanted was far from clear. Tidus had no idea what to think, but he was glad that, at least, this conversation wasn't awkward.
"Rinoa, I'm asking you honestly..." He put his hand on his desk next to her leg, not too close but not too far away. "Are you okay with me being a professor?"

Yes...she was surprised. Very surprised. He liked her...like that?
"Oh."
There was another pause, a long one.
"I want to kiss you again."
She stated it, but it was more like a question...pleading, nearly. She did want to be kissed, and thoroughly, and not think about the consequences.

Her hand found his, and she gave it a light squeeze.
"Well...maybe...maybe I wouldn't mind risking things for this. But what about you?"
She exhaled softly.
"You have far more to lose than I do."

"I don't approve... in this setting. In school, I am required to be formal and respectful."
Shit, did he actually say that?
"However..."
He never let things go left unsaid. It was just the way he was.
"Outside of Hogwarts, I'd really be interested in... getting to know you, and..."
He took in a deep breath.
"Maybe we could go out sometime. Like, just the two of us. What do you think?"
He felt like he was manipulating her, in a sense, so his voice was cautious.
