I love this so much. So much....I am so happy you have her mirror :)

I hate a nutter granny too. :D I aspire to be one (even though I don't have kids :O

your indescribably stunning post about your aunt "influenced" this one.

between that and now finally hanging things on walls in my not-so-new-anymore-apt, i realized how much i really miss granny.

thank you, i'm happy i have the mirror too!
and as much as they might bring sadness to you, i'm glad that you have photographs...

:O Oh no, I wrote the wrong word! jourdannex April 19 2006, 23:47:47 UTC
I wrote "hate" instead of *had*...I go loopy around 4pm, it's a given :/

I love nutter grannies.

Thank you for your kind words about the post, I never felt I could say anything that really portrayed how she really was...did her justice. Years ago I had something written out and I lost the document file in a computer crash. I started writing this one a few days ago after I found the photo. I am very glad I have the photographs, I really should send this to my uncle incase he does not have a copy but I always worry I will bring things up and upset him :/

i didn't even notice you wrote "hate," so obviously, i got it anyway!

and your post was gorgeous, and definitely does your aunt justice. it's so beautiful, it gives me chills, it made me cry...it's really heartfelt, stunning, stunning writing. nothing i say can do it justice, and i realize it's very private, to, so let's leave it at that...

as for your uncle - well, maybe you;ll know the tight time, maybe there won't ever be one. it'll come to you, what to do. no regrets tho, whatever you decide.

and yeah, granny was a right little nutter, but boy was she a strong lady. as fucked up as she was, i look back on some things she did or said, and think wow, you know, maybe she had it right (er, sometimes). also she smelled like "white shoulders."

;D

♥ Lovely memories.

My Gram had a spice cabinet that she used up until she got too fragmented by Alzheimer's to cook, which was about ten years before she died. It hung on the wall, so I was too small to reach it until I was around ten or so. I used to get her to pick me up when she opened it so I could smell the cloves and the vanilla and the cinnamon. I asked for the cabinet and I brought it to London. It's the only material possession of hers that I own.

that's a really nice story.
i'm glad you have the cabinet!

i have a couple of teeny-tiny bathing suits of granny's from her days of yore; they're so...vintage. but she was such a tiny woman, they look like doll suits.
