That's amazing angie! I'd honestly buy one if you ever sold it, sewing is one thing for me, but leatherwork is a new frontier that I haven't the balls to explore. I LOVE the tooling, the fez killed me outright. Don't worry about the scuffs on the leather, I think it makes it look way cooler. I always buy used leather bags because I think they have more character, looking all scruffy and such :)

Congrats, you did a fantastic job! How long did it take overall? Is it something you would try again or was it hair-tearingly epic? I need to read through all the chapters now. :D

:D Come over, I have little leather coasters that you could totally tool. And I have a nice selection of tools! Mine are smooth instead of stippled, so I'm looking forward to seeing the effect.

It'd be fun to hang out and work on something with someone. n_____n

I should mention how long it took, shouldn't I? I'll edit this post to include it, but I bought the leather at Christmas time, and I only just finished it. The saddle stitching took LIKELY an *entire* season of Top Gear. An early season too, so about ten episodes. Plus I listened to some audio books. So all in all, I had it in an unfinished state for about eight months, and I likely put about a hundred hours into it.

So yes, hair-tearingly epic, lol. But when I finish a project, I *always* want to do it again. Will I never learn??

A hundred hours, it could be worse. I've done a mohair reroot on a blythe doll (where you literally separate, knot, and pull through hundreds of tiny mohair hair-plugs) and I swore never again after, though it was immensely satisfying to finish!

Leather work sounds like fun, it's cool to see how people do it actually. And what a great project to work on with your dad! (I just finished reading the whole thing, lol)

I desperately want to learn how to knit (apart from the straight line that I already know). My goal in life is to be able to turn a heel and knit my own socks. I don't know why, it just is. XD

If you ever make another one, it will only get better! You know all the tricks of the trade now :) You should start a dr. who paraphenalia business. I need to show seb this, he'll love it.

Once again, we should hang out! I should really knit some socks that I could actually use day to day, because I think that's be really wicked. But you can also buy some of the thicker yarn that knits up faster and use them as slipper socks, and then it doesn't take as long to turn a heel.

And honestly, turning a heel is like magic. People are always going on about how hard it is, but if you follow the directions you look at your work and HOW DID THAT EVEN HAPPEN??? The darned thing TURNS!

Next one would certainly be better... But it definitely won't happen for a while. Phewph! ;)

I'm glad you think Seb would love it!

Edited to add: I don't think I've even ever seen any of your blythe dolls!! I'd like to.

Dad and Grandma! She was giving me such a hard time about not having this done yet!

I'll email him about this, so he can see all the pictures. Oh, and next time you see Mom congratulate her on being able to zip files! n_____n
