My husband and I were outside today and a crow flew by. I smiled, because I've always liked them. He teased me about how I'm the only person on earth who could possibly like crows.

I sent him this video and said, "THIS is why I love crows."

True, but they are also one of the most frequently hated. More the latter by the general populace.

I barely ever see dead (Australian) ravens on the road but all the other species of birds seem to get hit. The ravens are actually aware of cars and realise they need to get out of they way while they pass - the little buggers will wait to the last minute to get out of the way though!

Some corvids do more than just get out of the way of cars.

I love the way corvids think they own the place. They just walk around with that bouncy awkward birdy walk of theirs. They have the leftover cat food scraps and they're like, "Dup de dup - oh hello, Human - dup dup dup de dup, kaw" OM NOM NOM. They don't even give a shit about us. I find the magpies tend to be more interactive, though. They're quite a social bird by nature. There's a family that know us and come when we make a noise outside (calling the cats, usually). If we come out and they're waiting, they use a specific call, too. Particularly a juvenile that's now fully grown but we all call her 'Baby bird' anyway. She has held onto her baby 'kaw' cause she's noticed we give her preference if she acts the baby. Smart bitch! LOL! I really hope she finds a mate.

There's a raven that frequents our yard that barks like a dog. Seriously. You say, "Can you bark like a dog? Arf arf?" And he *starts making the fucking noise*!!!
