The Old Man Of The Lake

In Crater Lake in Oregon there is a large stump of wood that has been floating in the lake for over 100 years. It has been bleached white by the elements and is large enough and bouyant enough to support a grown man.

According to the wikipedia article, it's now tied off of Wizard Island to minimize navigation hazards. Dunno if it's still tied there, though. It was funny, after they tied it up, they noted that the weather "quickly went from clear to stormy."

That is really neat! I've never heard of this before. Now I want to visit Crater Lake.

I'm also very happy that if it's in the way they just tie it up instead of removing it completely.
