There is a book about this phenomenon called 'Wormwood Forest' by Mary Mycio

I've heard of that book. is it good? i might check it out.

The first couple of chapters about the effects of teh radiation are a bit technical, but over all it is pretty interesting, although more general about life the Zone than specifically on the wildlife.
