Nature isn't always perfect and often this has to do partly thanks to man kind...

probably not safe if you have a weak system (warning: dead baby photos) )

I saw a show once on the after effect of Chernobyl some years after the event, and I wanted to frikkin cry.

I saw that, too. I think I did cry. So sad.

Yeah, it reminds me of the days when the US govt would do atom bomb testing, then have the guys go out after and poke around with no protective gear....

Wow... yeah, some bad things have happened in this world!

Those last few really disturb me. I mean, keeping these poor things in glass containers, preserving them? I guess I'm not as open to science as all that.

Nothing, I suppose. It just doesn't sit well with me on a moral/emotional level. Scientifically, there's nothing wrong with it. In fact, it's probably a good thing, allowing study of the things that cause these mutations.

Just seems sad.

Have you never heard of Chernobyl? The radioactive winds blew it all over that part of the world, including the Ukraine. (It's also reasonable to assume some people who abandoned Russia moved there, etc.)

I may be wrong but I was under the impression that a fetus that small would not have such clearly developed fingers and the like... but it could be very small for it's gestational age as another result of the radiation.

it just made me think of the pro-life posters of aborted babies that are totally incongruent with the development of fetuses in the womb and thus are totally faked/exaggerated.

Chernobyl is freakin' trippy... proof of the dangers of radiation.

Also, I think that preserving some of those dead infants might be a good thing... reminds us to take care of our people and children so they don't get exposed to that crap.
