Because of the combo of recent posts.

There's vampire bats. And vampire finches. And vampire squid from hell (altho they don't suck blood) and Vampyrellid amoebas that go after pathogenic fungi and vampire snails that go after fish.

Having been drunk from... bigfatartcat June 3 2008, 18:09:24 UTC
Ok, having been tasted by various insects in my life I'm not sure how bad this would actually be. This weekend I had the unique experience of being covered in butterflies, of which I watched several extend there various proboscii and drink the tiny beads of sweat from my skin. No ill effect of course, but very tickley. Granted a tiny unfurled proboscis verses large barbed moth tusks are rather different. I know an ecologist who has allowed exotic cockroaches to drink the moisture from his closed eyes as well. He also suffered no ill effect, but he was a strange fellow to begin with.

Eyeball: no response
Moth: I see you've got some extra moisture there.
Eyeball: no response
Moth: "So I was wondering, your not going to waste that stuff are ya? Looks like you were just going to leave them extra tears to evaporate. That's good stuff right there, salts, protein, water, and warm to boot.
Eyeball: no response
Moth:You don't mind if I help myself do ya? No?
Eyeball: no response
Moth: Well thanks!

Excellent, something to further my insane moth phobia. Now, when everyone counters "But they're harmless," I'll know better.
