He’d stuff the pillow case in the back of the neck of his shirt and suddenly, cape trailing down his back, he was Superman.
And it wasn’t nerdy at all, he was ready to assure anyone who dared suggest it, since Superman was awesome and saved people just like Sam would do when he was a policeman.
No one ever suggested it, not like with the policeman thing.
But the day Sam jumped out of the tree and the cape fell off (and he was sure that was the only reason he fell, because he was Superman), and the nice doctor at the hospital called Sam “he” and “son” and “boy” until he noticed the look on Sam’s dad’s face, Sam wondered if maybe there were worse things than being a nerd

Drew looked down at the red and black little outfit he had on. This all started because his high-speed Internet had been cut off. Like all good little nerds, he had followed the creed of "Rent first, then Internet, then food," but there were only so many months that he could survive on instant ramen and Cocoa Puff bowls.
He had swallowed his pride and knocked on his neighbor's door, hoping he wouldn't begrudge a month or two of Wi-fi sharing. Otherwise, Drew was prepared to trawl the neighborhood with his laptop in search of an unsecured wireless network.
"Yes?" The man that opened the door loomed over Drew with a politely inquiring expression. Even with his bare feet, the man was easily a head taller than him.
What happened to the good old days when all Asian guys are puny, anyway? Drew, who barely cleared 5'6", thought with a familiar mixture of envy and annoyance.

"Hi. Drew St. Clair," he extended his hand. "I live in the apartment next door?"
"I don't know. Do you?" His neighbor gave him a wide grin--not a crooked or stained teeth in sight, damn him--and gripped his hand."Justin Goh. I take it this isn't just a social call

Drew stepped out of his battered Converse and padded through the carpet on his socks. The apartment smells strongly of pine freshener, which was a step up from his apartment and its eau de dirty laundry
