. . . but tonight antennapedia and I were talking as we filled out our surveys, and we ended up brainstorming possible workshop/panel/roundtable ideas for next WriterCon! Since we're all fresh off this last one and still buzzing about it, I thought it might not be too early to see what everyone else was thinking. I'm completely in love with your first idea. Time is always a factor. I've been to Writer Salon twice now and we always run over. Over an hour over and had we had a full complement I'm pretty sure it would have been two. I'd love to see Writer Salon be a full day (maybe added cost) workshop the day before the con. This is done at a con here in Austin, Armadillo Con.

Barring that, I think groups of 3 to 4 is all that would be manageable. Still, very worth doing.

That's an interesting idea! Takes it to a whole new level of organization, of course, and might not be feasible for everyone, but that would be awesome, definitely.

The real problem is that the more rooms we have access to, the more the hotel charges. Getting dedicated space early could significantly increase costs.

However, it's definitely something that we could consider for future cons, depending on future economic situations.

It doesn't have to be a formal meeting space, we could meet in a corner of the con suite, or several groups could meet in the same room, at the same time, around different tables. At a pinch, we could get people to volunteer their rooms.
