Trying this again -- THANK YOU, WRITERCON!

I just added the community to my flist, but I wanted to again thank everybody for inviting me to Writercon, and for just being wonderful to a total stranger. Or near-total stranger. I had a marvelous time, and I think the convention is a great and positive thing for the writing community as a whole ( Read more... )

If I'd had any idea you were Julie Fortune I'd have been able to squee at your properly! (I was the panelist next to you on Plot, who gave you a card at the end.) I've read at least one of your AtS fanfics with deep awe and pleasure.

OMG! :stares in shock: You're kidding, you'd actually heard of me? Whoa, man. I've heard of *you* -- you're awesome! I felt bad not being on time to the panel, and then I had to race to catch a plane ... thank you so much for the lovely words. What a treat!

I wish we'd run into each other sooner in the weekend, especially given that you said so much on that panel that resonated with me--we seem to have such a similar approach to writing. Now I know your alter ego I'm even more interested in trying one of your books. (I'm also nancykayshapiro, btw.)

ACK!

OMG, how much do I suck? I did not in ANY way make the connection between you (who I saw! on two panels!) and juliefortune. *Cries* I would have very much liked to gush on and on about the wonderful fanfic you've written. *Gives you virtual hugs now, anyway*

I'm afraid the name is new to me, but I would like to say what an amazing pleasure it was to have you work sit in on the Writer's Salon. I think the next time we do that we need to devote half a day to it. :)

*waves a lot* It was fabulous being on the Narrative Flow panel with you, and thank you so much for being so gracious.

Hi Rachel! I'm the woman who came up to you at the end of the plot panel and said "I'm from Halifax!" I'm still excited at the idea of your setting a novel around the explosion. The only other novel I know of set around that event is "Barometer Rising" by Hugh MacLennan (and personally, I didn't think it was all that good!).

Anyway, I'm totally up for talking about Halifax, if there's any way I can help you. If you're interested, here's an LJ post I wrote a couple years ago about growing up in Halifax around reminders of the explosion: December 6th, 1917.

(By the way, I'm yet another person with multiple LJs; this one is my RL one, and mostly friends-locked; my fanfic is all in shadowscast.)
