Your explanation makes sense, and I get why you reacted that way. I just think your phrasing kind of reflects the reflexive cultural idea that youth (and skinny) is gorgeous, to the point of some models and actresses trying to look prepubescent. Like most implicit cultural messages, the first way to fight it is to be conscious of it.
From what I've heard, FB has privacy settings so that they can lull people into a false sense of security, then they change them and "accidentally" set everything to public.
