The longest I've gone without power is five days and it wasnt that bad. Forget electricity you can live without it just fine - what you cant live without is running water. There was a water shortage when we lived in Mombasa for over two months and our tank ran dry and we had to fill up jerry cans from hotels (luckily my parents had connections),

Girl I know all about not having electricity and running water.

When we had a major hurricane(Gilbert) in Jamaica in 1988, we had no electricity for 3 months and no running water for almost 9 months(it would sporadically come on and off). It was the freaking worst. We had to set drums out to catch rain water and when it didn't rain we had to walk miles to the river to get water.

I can live without the electricity, but running water, HELL NO.
