all change

So, wrimos! At the time of posting, we are nearly halfway though our NaNo time. Here's a question for you:

How much has your plot changed since the 31st October?

Has your plot held up? Have small bits of it changed? Or perhaps big, important bits? Have you ditched your first idea or totally rehashed it? Did you even have a plot to begin with?

My main character's whole backstory and personality has completely changed. I'm not entirely sure what it's changed to yet, we're figuring it out as we go. Revising this is going to be fun. And by fun I mean "much like kicking dead whales down a beach."

I think I'd rather clean my brother's room than go through your revision process. :( Sorry to hear about your plight...

"much like kicking dead whales down a beach."

Nice comparison!

Definitely feel you on the revising part. That's going to be annoying once I set on that path. But at least we'll have the bulk of it on paper, right?

The big overarching plot is still in place, but there are a bunch of specifics I haven't nailed down yet (keep changing my mind!) and crucial parts of the plot I've been procrastinating on writing on...

I hear you on the random characters popping up without being planned. It's happened to me so much, and some of them I actually really love.

Oh, man. I knew damn well what my plot was going to be when I set out on this, and I still know what it is-- but I've just barely reached the point where I thought it would start. I have 22,000 words of lead up to the first major plot point. ARGH. It might sound like a happy accident but it makes me want to claw at my face, guys! I like my stories to go the way I plan them; the novel certainly did last year. *frowns* Aside from that a lot of ideas have appeared to fill in the vague middle section, which is nice. Now I just have to get there without another 25,000 words of world-building elapsing. *flails*

Somehow I managed to avoid it this year, but I so know what you mean! I used to spend page after page after page just SETTING UP the plot. ARRGHHH. Nightmarish, but I suppose it's good for the wordcount at least?

Good luck!

Woot! Know the feeling. I had a premise. NOW I have a plot.

Mind you, it's not the plot I thought it was... xD
