"imminent": about to happen
"eminent": high profile, important
"immanent": intrinsic, (of God) all-encompassing, pervasive

If you can't tell the difference, don't try to use big words.

Two stories in a row, by different authors. One used "eminent" when they meant "imminent" and the other used "immanent" instead of "imminent".

The first, by the way, had B/J married with a kid and used two completely different names for the kid in the same paragraph. They also three times used "loose" instead of "lose". And twice in following paragraphs used "defiantly" instead of "definitely".

AAAAAAGGGGHHHHHH!

I guess this week it should be an Irish one. Bard of Armagh, perhaps.

Yes, teaching can be a thankless job. Especially college students, because I know I'd be thinking 'surely they should know this stuff by now'.

(Then, of course, I remember that college educated white men vote for Trump, and it brings me back to the reality of the difference between education and learning.)

I have never heard of t he last two words, esp, the last one. My vocabulary decreases every year as I read less and less demanding lit and news. I spent so many years trying to dumb down my vocabulary for middle school kids and parents and ever administrators in wasn't silly ( ... )
