I actually plan to make this one using a lot of my Dad's old silk ties. Some of the patterns and things are so neat, I want to preserve them! Pattern from QuiltMaker Magazine Spring 2008.

I've been thinking about this quilt and collecting ties for it. First off, I want the whole quilt bigger. I also want the blocks bigger so I don't loose part of the pattern of the long ties in some cases. Since some are skinny and some are fat, I think I will piece the top and then applique the main body of the long ties retaining thier character as "Mad Men" ties or wide ties or whatever they actually are.

I've been debating using "copies" of the ties instead of the actual tie as some of these are fabulous... but then I would loose the character of the fabrics so I don't think I will- I think I will use the actual tie.

At the four corners, I want to put in peek-a-boo images... possibly other places along the border as well- depending on how many peek-a-boos I end up with. I think these should be covered with tie ends-left lined and all- sewn down on one or two sides so that they can be lifted and the peek-a-boo image can be seen. This will retain the 'hidden' quality of the images.
