Science is correct only within its own narrow bounds: defined by people like Aristotle, Karl Popper and William of Ockham. And sometimes yesterday's science is today's mythology (phlogiston) and yesterday's mythology is today's science (ball lightning).
And it'll be different again tomorrow.
The power of science lies in the narrowness of its application. Widen the application and the power disappears.
Having said that, the children's writing is mighty. Although putting the science hat on again, is the space in the first line also squashed up very small? It should be, but it is not clear from the placement of the comma.
Generally, what age are you aiming for? My girl (3) would need simpler sentence structure and a smaller vocabulary: my boy (8) would want a more complex story, and rely less on illustration. But my spawn are not neurotypicals, so they might not be a good guide.
