Fire Mage Help

Aug 23, 2013 08:20

Hi ladies!

I logged onto my mage alt for the first time in forever and I went through a few dungeons only to realize that I've completely forgotten how to fire mage. I'm checking Icy Veins, but do any of you have any tips for a fire mage's dps rotation? Especially aoe rotation. I'm lagging behind in dps and I'm not sure why.

general: advice/advise, mage: fire, role: dpsing, confused, help

Try going to frost for a while, if you haven't got your Ilvl up to current standard. They really screwed fire mages recently.

I played around with frost but I'm not sure I really like the rotation. I'm not that good at it. I might try arcane.

They say frost is the way to go, but yeah, I don't really like it, and I want my fire spells to be back up to par again. It actually made playing a lot less fun, so I'm leveling a priest.

Fire is still pretty gear-dependent last I heard, so you might have easier success running as Frost like myrrhdusa suggested (I personally preferred Frost for leveling in Pandaria). Both specs are being tweaked in 5.4 so expect some changes in a couple weeks regardless of what you play. In the meantime, Icy Veins has a leveling guide specifically for 85-89 with simplified single target and AOE rotations here. Frost and Arcane are covered on the same page if you want to experiment with those too.

Around what iLevel does fire start becoming feasible again? I really don't like playing as frost, and my mage is creeping up in the iLevels.

I would also recommend you switch to frost ( ... )
