Expansion preps

So I've only been playing WoW for a year now so I've never been around for an expansion. Is there anything I should prepare for? I noticed someone talking about their bank and MoP on Tumblr and I was just curious. Not necessarily add-ons as that's already been explained to me.

Well, I know I've been cleaning out my bank of cata crafting mats to make room for all the MoP mats I'll be getting. Since I'm a hunter I also, went through the new tamable pets on petopia decided which ones I wanted and made tough decisions on which ones to let go to make room for the new. I"m so excited to finally be able to tame a basilisk. :D

I'm also in the process of cleaning out my quest journal. Running around finishing off all those miscellaneous quests so I have room for all the new ones.

I know some people are gathering the mats to level up their monk or panda's profession, that's not my style though.

A lot of people take the time to fix old achievements at the end of expansions, others spend time farming mats that are going to be in high demand at the start of the new expansion; Ores, Cloth, Leather, Herbs, Bags for new alts etc. All depends really on what you want personally ^^
Some people don't bother doing anything, not really much need to tbh =p

I've only been through one but what I noticed with the change to Cata was that a lot of people were getting very involved in the pre-expansion events. Even though it was widely condemned on my server as boring compared to the previous ones there was still a lot of interest and frequently it was difficult to do the quests during peak server time.

The other thing I noted was that immediately after Cata hit there were a lot of trolls who flagged themselves for PVP and sat around the quest givers so the tab targeters (like me) would hit them instead of the mobs. That shouldn't be as much of a problem this time around since Horde and Ally should be questing in different areas to start with.

Oh I never thought of that. I've never had to sit in a queue to get on the server but ugh I might just lose my mind haha. :P

dont forget the valor point/conquest point conversions. also if there are any items you want from scholo and scarlet monastery you should go for them. they will change on tuesday....

Yeah I heard about that. I'm not really worried about transmog atm mainly because I just switched servers (and I was too cheap for a server transfer) so I'm still trying to gear my DK (and level my mage who is at 70) and hopefully be ready by launch. I'm so slow though so it might be a while lmao. -___-
