Rogueish help.

Hello, ladies! I come seeking some advice.

My adorable bank alt is getting up in levels (for profession reasons), and since I'm nearing level 50+ plus, I'd like to get a better idea of my rotation and how to gear. I really really like Combat so I don't intend to change specs, but I don't know if I'm doing what I should be doing ( Read more... )

For agility classes, my understanding is 1 Agility = 2 Attack power. But agility also gives you crit, so you'll be losing a small amount of crit when you take an AP piece over an Agi piece. (Unless it has crit on it as well.)

Aggro is unfortunate, because you're still several levels away from getting Tricks of the Trade, but you might try doing a countdown before you start on your special attacks when the tank pulls. Make sure to keep SnD up through the entire fight. On my rogue, when it comes to rotation I get 2 combo points up, snd, 4 up via SS, revealing strike and finisher. Bladeflurry is useful whenever you have at least 2 mobs up. Even though feint doesn't seem to do much, it might be helpful to just use it on every cooldown, from the start of the fight, in order to keep your threat from building too high to begin with. It doesn't sound like you're doing anything "wrong" really, though, so I think you're pretty much on the right track.

I think for combat rogue mainly you want to focus on agility, hit (though I realize thats hard to do at lower levels), haste and expertise. AP is good to go for, but I think Agi > AP

With regards to gear, your OH is a bit slow for what you normally aim for in an OH. Usually you want 1.4-1.5 speeds, but 1.7 isn't going to make or break you. :P But levelling, you generally just want whatever's an Agi upgrade! Gear doesn't really matter much when levelling anyway. Your poisons also look fine, since soloing doesn't matter as much. I usually use Instant MH Deadly OH all the time, but that's because I'm OCD about having the same amount of poisons in my bags at all times ( ... )

Your gear looks good. If you can afford it, get the +15 agility enchants on your BOA weapon/s ( ... )

i leveled combat but haven't played it since 4.0.1 dropped, i swapped to sub and haven't looked back. mostly because i love daggers, and combat does not love daggers lol. also i pvp almost exclusively now (guild fails at raids, might as well do something useful on my own, lol), and while it doesn't kill things as fast as assassination, i find it has way more utility and oh shit friendly moves than the other specs. if you would like to know more about pvp strategy let me know! i've actually gotten pretty decent at it lately ( ... )

I have a level 37 Subtlety (and Assassination but I love Subtlety so much I never switch) that I do battlegrounds with and I'm getting confused over all the abilities I have already. Like do I even want to use Slice and Dice or Expose Armor in PVP? I have no clue! Do I open with Ambush or Cheap Shot? etc.

i am the same! my main spec is assassination and i only use it if i HAVE to. sub rules <3 anyway i usually start with ambush, but i am not sure how the damage at 37 vs 85 is - also, i kidney shot immediately after ambushing (with preparation, so i have at least 4cp. i am sure most of these things are high level and i'm sorry if it confuses, this is just a runaway train of thought now lol). i don't know what level anything comes at now, but if you want to throw a stun and get some backstab action in, cheap shot is definitely a viable opener ( ... )

Just for clarification you can't Kidney Shot after Ambush without Vanish or Shadow Dance (which I don't have) right (or Shadowmeld --> Stealth, I love being a Nelf!)? I also don't have Preparation but I will soon! I like to Gouge and Backstab but I never have the energy to do that so I guess I'll try the other stuns I have.

Thanks for the help!
