Rolled a DK so I could quest through Outlands without leveling my baby mage. I love her to death, but I fight like a fish in a paper bag

Diseases > OB > Pestilence > Frost Strike (If I have the runic power) > Blood Strike until OB or Frost Strike are open. Diseases, Pestilence, two BS to get two death runes, OB, Frost Strike. If you have to choose between FS or OB, use OB, this is main attack ability for frost.
For tanking: DnD > Diseases > Rune Strike > Death Strike > Blood Boil > Heart Strike > Rune Strike Always use Blood Presence.
Is this a big hiderence or should I be okay even with the dps hit? I don't really care about topping the charts... Just not getting kicked for being the derpy DK. Well, while your DPS would be better with one handed weapon, you'll be okay with 2H. You should put points to Might of the frosen Wastes instead of Threat of Thassarian in your talent build/
Re: lore - I suck at lore so I can't help you too much there. Since I'm not an RP'er, that's not too much of a hinderance to me, but I'm sure other people will be able to help with that!!
Re: frost dks. I have, oh crap, about five, across a bajillion (okay, five) different servers. One of them was my main in Wrath, although admittedly I was unholy most of the time, until frost turned into a crazy-awesome dps spec. Anyway, about the rotation... this is what I do. Diseases first and foremost - if you're fighting more than one enemy, then pestilence. If not, it's not really worth it, because if I recall correctly, that just spreads your diseases to other targets. Obliterate is a huge thing with frost, so use that whenever it's off cooldown. And yeah, basically sounds like you have a decent rotation. I am TERRIBAD with names of spells, but there is one that you get that you should use after you dodge/parry an attack, but I can't for the life of me recall what its name is. >_Blood dk - I have just started as a dk tank, but my

I'll let other people talk about rotations and stuff, but as for RP... I honestly would say it would work if you did it right. I mean, after the fall of the Lich King, I imagine the Knights of the Ebon Blade are feeling kind of adrift. Who are they now? They aren't agents of the Lich King, but they also don't exactly fit in the world they left behind. However, my impression of Death Knights is that they are a little jaded. When you arrive in Ice Crown, stop to listen to the Ebon Watcher and Tirion as they converse before you phase out of that first zone. I can't find the exact dialogue, but here's the description from wowwiki:
Tirion can also be found in Icecrown at the Argent Vanguard, talking to the Ebon Watcher. Through their dialogue with each other, you learn the Ebon Watcher is actually Darion Mograine. Darion Mograine talks pessimistically, saying they cannot win when the Lich King is not shackled to any virtues of the Light. Tirion states he will not lower himself to the Scourge's level; they will do this with honor or else

On an RP note: I fail at lore in general, but I thought it wouldn't be unreasonable for a Draenei DK, formally a Paladin, to still be religious as before death. I got the impression that once out of the control of the Lich King Death Knights regained the remains of their old personalities and memories. Do I fail even more at lore than normal or is this passable?I don't think you could go through what the death knights did - death, raised by necromancy, forced into the Lich King's service, released, now dealing with the memories of what they did under his rule - and come out completely unchanged. With traumatic events, there are always reminders, there are always memories, and there are always scars on your soul that never quite go away, and a freed death knight would have more to work through than most. It takes time and effort to really come back to yourself, and that process, I think, is where death knights can really shine in RP

Oh yes, she's not completely unchanged. She was already bitter and had some chronic pain issues before becoming a Death Knight. I like the conflict of a religious Death Knight. xD
Allowing your characters to grow is always fun. :3
2H is what's supposed to give Frost the most dps, so that should be fine! And the first comment had a better rotation than I've been using, I think. 9.9 *just figuring it out*
For RP: I think your idea is fine. They had at least some memories beforehand, though, in general - Darion even says "the life we had before is meaningless" while Scourge - and there are other comments and things around. Having problems remembering or having a new, Scourgey take on them would make sense though.
>>2H is what's supposed to give Frost the most dps It's really not. :) We actually tried frost with 2H and unholy with one handed weapons. While the results were acceptable, the still don't compare with one handed for frost. Not to mention that now we finally have one handed weapons with strength as main stat. <--- *has been dreaming about this since Lich King*
And I kinda abandoned frost for unholy now. *sighs* I love frost to death, but I think I love my 14k DPS in unholy even more. ^^'
>>That dual-wielding could work well, but not equal a two-hander. Nope, this the first time I've ever heard something like that.)) Well, and maybe I'm doing it wrong, but still.)) I'm mourning gold we spent on checking out differnt specs.)) The problem is you have to use unholy presence if you're using 2H, and that deprives you of 15% damage you can get in frost presence. Currently DK are relying heavily on haste, so 2H is too slow for you in frost presence. With one handed weapons you strike much faster hence no need to cut your damage.
