Okay, I' gonna sound like such a noob here... but where the heck did the portals in Dalaran go? The ones that lead to Orgrimar and Silvermoon and such? I want to do some Winter Viel stuff, but I can't leave Outlands!

This is sadface warlock. :(

general: advice/advise, expansion: cataclysm, world event: winter veil

They were removed with 4.0.

As were the ones in Shattrath. You can only get from place to place the old fashioned way, zeps, transporters (UC to Silvermoon and vice versa) and flying!

If in Outlands, you can go to the Dark Portal and pop 'round to the left as you face it -- there is a portal to Org there. (It's convenient for my Outlands Hordie -- I can bind in Thrallmar, but be only a short flight away from Org.)

But yeah, the Shattrath and Dalaran portals are gone now.

This also works on the other side for going to Stormwind :)

Dalaran is in Northrend, Shattrath is in Outland ;)

The portals themselves were removed, so to get to Orgrimmar you'll have to fly out to Borean Tundra and take the zeppelin in Warsong Hold,.

To get to Silvermoon, you're going to have to fly to Vengeance Landing in Howling Fjord and take the zeppelin to the Undercity, then use the Orb of Translocation to return to Silvermoon.

*ETA; Didn't see the other commenter, as I've had this tab open for a few minutes before replying. Oh well.

If ever lost, ask your local mage to port you ;)

Politely, preferably with some sort of bribe involved. (I like cookies myself)

my Mages stole them in order to get rich off portal sales.

at least it seems that way..

**RANT**
How come when I am on my mage there are mages everywhere selling ports. I am generally the cheapest as I am happy with anything that cost more then the reagent. I often take 1-5g.

YET when I am on my other toons there is only one mage and his gnome ass charges 50g / port.

On a similar note, why is it that when I'm sitting around solo and doing nothing, no one wants a port, but when I'm in a group or in the queue for a random, everyone's asking me for one? I'm sorry, but if I've been in the queue for 20 min, I'm not going to invite you and lose my spot in the 45 min dps queue. :(

This is why I have a macro that replies in /r something along the lines of I'm in queue and not working as a taxi at the moment lol. Only ever had one person throw a fit and /ignore is a beautiful thing to fix that. :D

Good point! I completely forgot about the Tanaris portal. That makes things so much easier.
