Celebration question!

I really want to take the time to thank everyone who contributed to this post, be it there, on the post in my own journal, or via PM as many have also done. Sadly I have not had much time to do a lot of compiling on the actual data and I probably will not need to (at least not at this time). I know of at least one Blizzard employee who saw the post ( Read more... )

im so sorry gmail

I know, I want like a souvenir LJ icon or something. Like pics of our toons with "I am X and I am Azeroth, and I will not be silenced".

BUT MY HUSBAND IS ON THE COMPUTER THAT HAS PHOTOSHOP SO I CAN'T MAKE ONE.

Yeah, I kinda realised I don't have a joyful icon for moments like these

Hey there, I didn't see the post when it went up, I was more than likely out at work when it was posted, so I did put my own comment in even though I'm tremendously late. Thanks for making this post. It was amazing. <3

It might sound silly (and I mentioned this to you before) but one of the things that was bringing me some degree of comfort through this was that at least I could go out knowing that those who created this wonderful, immersive world we call Azeroth saw at least some of our words, and feelings, and just how much their work--no, their ART--means to us. I'm willing to wager those aren't the people who were behind the original decision.

Thank you for doing this, Lani.

BTW, your post made Shakesville! http://shakespearessister.blogspot.com/2010/07/wow-fail-follow-up.html

Holy shit Shakesville! (and TY bb :3 )

That was one of the first social-justice blogs I started reading, and I learned a lot there. I have to skip a lot of posts though because some of the things they write about are so maddeningly horrifying that if I read them all I'd never be able to function on a day to day basis. Sad that I sometimes have to choose willful ignorance just to make it through the day, though. =\

I know, it's a really great blog--I don't typically comment there (I have like, a phobia about commenting on non-LJ blogs, idk can't really explain it) but I email/GReader share a TON of links from it.

I linked to this post in my response, so readers know they can still comment on your post if they like.

Archive it!
Personally, I would still send it in.

*nods* I am considering doing just that. I will certainly compile all the responses as I planned, though I may not do it in as much a rush as I was prepared to yesterday and this morning.

Thank you again. :)

I say go for it. Many of us are still VERY wary of RealID - and uncomfortable with the Friends-of-friends feature - and I do not [personally] see the harm in underscoring exactly why safeguarding privacy is such a big deal for us, since they seem to have slept through that particular Internet Safety lesson.

yes. this. exactly this.
I refuse to use the RealID in game not because I don't trust my friends and family, but because I don't choose to allow everyone that every single one of my family and friends allows to connect to THEM to be able to see ME.

Besides, sometimes I just want to putz around on a low level alt on a totally other server without anyone bothering me. RealID doesn't allow me to opt out ANY characters, and that's a problem. One of many with RealID.
