I really want to take the time to thank everyone who contributed to
this post, be it there, on the post in my own journal, or via PM as many have also done. Sadly I have not had much time to do a lot of compiling on the actual data and I probably will not need to (at least not at this time). I know of at least one Blizzard employee who saw the post and the unscreened comments, and believe me those stories helped to make a difference.
If those who responded don't mind, I would like to go ahead and archive and organize those posts (they will not be made public) despite the announcement that Real ID on the forums is being repealed for now. Like many of you, I fear what may be to come. I love Blizzard more dearly than I can really express here, for some very personal reasons, but the fact remains that there are people in the company who are willing to attempt to implement these kinds of features. Sadly I'm not sure I'll ever be able to look at Blizzard through the same eyes as I could last week, as I'm sure many of you won't. I think there will likely come another time (lol melodramatic language) when we may well need those stories again.
Thank you very much for your words, and for trusting me with them. Issues of words, names, and privacy are very important to me. If there is anybody who wishes for their words to be removed (comment deleted or un-archived, for example) please let me know and I will act accordingly.
Much love to all of you, and I mean that. :)
