Three butterflies...and life

Mostly my job is quite easy, as in I go to see people with cognitive difficulties, and listen to them and their families and carers, and make what I hope are helpful suggestions. Mostly people are happy to see me, even if they had forgotten that I was coming or even that they had ever seen me before. As a lot of problems are accentuated by anxiety ( Read more... )

I've been so excited to catch an occasional glimpse of a Silver-washed Fritillary deep within the forest... and you have them in the house!

The swallowtail is stunning. But no chance at all of seeing one of those here.

Would your employers be paying you for travel time? Because nearly four hours driving there and back is practically a shift on its own...

I am afraid the house isn't full of butterflies...but we live in an isolated place surrounded by woods on a steep slope, so I guess he just made a mistake. I caught him and put him out, but he, or one just like him was dead on the floor the next morning, so maybe he was winding down. :(

That swallowtail is fabulous! But you have put it last. I am trying to decide which order your order of excitingness runs, because I am not sure how excited I should be by a White Admiral.

Finishing at 10pm and driving 2 hours home repeatedly after a long day sounds rather dangerous, I take it you cannot just refuse and tell them to find someone else?

White Admirals are everywhere at the moment, they must have just hatched, so the Swallowtail is my happiest snap, especially as I was able to get it quite clearly!

love the butterflies! We have seen so many last week including swallowtails. They are magnificent.

As to your replacement shift it seems unsafe. Is there a gap in employment law if an employer can legally tag that much driving onto a working shift?

I wonder if you managed to get many photos? I find long distance walking with the camera quite hard, but as soon as I decide there is nothing new to be seen and pack it away....
I was grumpy and employment law is probably there to protect me...I didn't check. I am lucky that I have a job with relatively good pay and conditions.
