I think Jeph Loeb is alternatively fantastic and terrible.
A good example of the latter being his "color" books mentioned in the article, each of which I stopped getting after two issues.

At least it's implied that the Redulk is not Banner.

Also, I love McGuinness for over-the-top stuff.

all loeb's batman books = a decent read ( - & i like heroes - he does have something to do with that, doesn't he...? ) - but i can't get over my suspicion that's he's a saboteur sent by dc to fuck up marvel ( like geoff johns was a few years ago ) ( it took the avengers ages to recover from his "input" ) ( but his jsa & particularly "52" = goob )

loeb's characterisation of hawkeye in the recent "fallen son" books = appalling, imo

mcguinness ( unlike guinness ) = not for me but i'm glad to hear that someone's getting enjoyment

ps. sorry if all my yak yak yak abt uk telly progs = a bit dull as dishwater pour vous - you seem to be coping admirably tho

I often end up reading Loeb stuff just because I like Sale's art, but they did together which I think was genuinely ace, perhaps because they had more leeway than on the big projects - Challengers Of The Unknown Must Die!

The latest thing to be Revealed by teh Television - I may have got this wrong as I was cruising the web with half mine attention - is that Ed the Talking Horse Pinsent is Frankie Howard's son or something.

careful now - what if beloved ed pinsent is googling himself even as we "speak"...? - also, it'll probly turn up in the frankie howerd entry on wikipedia tomorrow

Ah, you saw Have I Got News For You where Ian Hislop Revealed that someone had inserted on wikipedia the 'fact' that Ronnie Hazlehurst had written one of Steps's hits and that this fact was reported in at least one obituary of Hazlehurst.

As the Young People on the interw3b say: teh Chortle.

- this "fact" was also repeated on bbc breakfast news by lynsey de paul ( ex mrs james coburn )

ps. do you think frankie howerd = god...?

its raining weathergirls ...balalaika stickismyfriend October 18 2007, 23:20:06 UTC
I always think of La Kirkwood as the breathy lady
Notice how her forecasts are full of gulped intakes of breath
I think its part of the attraction but I also think she might be on 60 a day - either that or she's underwater
The thought of her as Miss Mizzou put a smile on my face!

I like Elisabeth Shaary - the Wednesday Addams of weather girls (what a kick to see an arsenic pallour with her dressed as a deathshead goth). She seems to have become more earthbound since having a baby - even her hair isn't as unreally shiney with violet highlights as it used to be. I read that she's vegetarian (mmmm ...with meatballs!)

tonights Viv Vile was the best yet - especially the plumbing leaking through her portrait's eye at the end!

( a sharp intake of breath ) "& now with the weather from atlantis, here's lady dorma..." ( glub )

"the wednesday addams of weather girls" - wot a luvly turn of phrase - seeing anyone on telly who isn't sprayed orange = a rare treat these days

vegetarian w/meatballs made me smile ( "& now with the weather from pizza hut in leicester sq 23 yrs ago, here's pip the trainee osteopath" )
